Guest guest
The author says that Soy is fine in moderation. So long as it is organic and preferably tofu or miso. He's probably right. He also says a full balanced vegan diet would be needed. True too. Asians have been doing this for thousands of years. Milk contains IGF-1 a growth hormone naturally. It is know to cause cancer and for those with cancer increase tumour growth rates. Normally IGF-1 is at a low leve, but if add eBGH (bovine growth hormone to stimulate milk production) you end up with IGF-1 at 10x normal levels. Thus milk then becomes dangerous. As the author says, anything at high levels is dangerous. So what are high levels of Tofu? He says the Okinawas have 1-2 servings a day. Not sure what a serving is but Sally says its a side dish of Tofu. Butnot a complete protien replacement. Also maybe I missed it but the author doesnt address thyroid problems which a lot of research exists and is one of the big complaints. My step brother drinks a lot of soy milk and had hyper-thyroid problems and is on medicine for life. He doesn't believe there is a connection, but then read " The Truth About Soy " www.soyonlineservice.co.nz (note: this site is run by an ex-employee of a large soy producing company). Guest guest
Soy oil is immunosuppressive. They give it to organ transplant patients to make their immune systems less likely to reject transplanted organs. I'm generally not a fan of eating soy... although they did find a way to make a lovely artificial silk out of soy protein. > > Hello all, > > What are people's experiences with soy? > > Currently I use unsweetened soy milk - about 1/2 to 3/4 cup a day and also a wonderful product " Wildwood plain soy yogurt " it is also unsweetened and has inulin and probiotic cultures - typically I use about 1/2 cup a day. Guest guest
Hi I've just been told (and read in several places) that soya is not good for you. Soya milk is very fattening and the doctor we saw last night said it slows down your metabolism and stops much being digested. I'm just cutting out all soya now, as I think that may be the reason I have been struggling to lose weight for the last 3 months (since we started eating soya bread and using soya milk). Keen What about soy? Hello all, What are people's experiences with soy? Currently I use unsweetened soy milk - about 1/2 to 3/4 cup a day and also a wonderful product " Wildwood plain soy yogurt " it is also unsweetened and has inulin and probiotic cultures - typically I use about 1/2 cup a day. I notice no stomach discomfort from either. Cheers,
Guest guest
Hi : For some years we read about how great Soy was for women in EARLY stages of Menopause and that may still be true, then I read an article called The Dark Side of Soy. Not good. Since Soy is mildy Estrogenic for some people but much stronger for others, it's best (in my opinion) to stay away from it. Bonnie What about soy?
