Guest guest
I have read that blackstrap molassas is very high in calcium. Is this " usable " calcium? I'm looking for some (non-dairy) ways to boost calcium intake - especially for my kids. They sometimes drink enriched rice dream, kefir, and a bit of yogurt, but I'd like to find other calcium sources if possible. I tried the basic porridge recipe from NT and my kids actually liked it (with sliced bananas)! A bit of blackstrap molassas would be pretty easy to sneak in there for a nutritional boost. That is my next big hurdle...making the switch with my kids from Rice Dream to raw milk. They have always struggled with milk allergies, although they seem to be OK with the small amounts of raw milk I've given them - no throwing up or anything. They do like fruit smoothies made with raw milk. I never thought of rice milk as " fortified sugar " - but it fits...I suppose the other real challenge will be eliminating breakfast cereal from our house. Do I dare make them go cold turkey?
