Heidi-

Just wanted to thank you for the neti pot recommendation you posted awhile

ago. I was quite skeptical, but since I suffer from pretty severe

allergies (and asthma) I decided to give it a try. The idea didn't seem

ludicrous, and it wasn't terribly expensive.

Well, today I got a phone call from a nice Indian lady somewhere in NYC who

said my neti pot had arrived, and could they deliver it to me now, and then

a couple hours later an Indian fellow called me to let me know he was

outside my building, neti pot in hand. That was definitely one of the more

unusual deliveries I've taken recently. <g>

I'm feeling truly wretched today because of a mold disaster (nothing

exhausts me and gives me horrible asthma, a sore throat, a stuffy nose, and

miscellaneous aches and pains like mold) so I decided to try it out

immediately, and the results were pretty amazing. It wasn't uncomfortable

at all, except for the part where salty glop drips down the back of your

throat and has to be spat out, and even that was just an annoyance, and it

washed an amazing amount of mucous and other stuff out that endless blowing

and kleenex wastage hadn't touched. Afterwards I was actually able to

breathe through my nose, and though the tissues in there are still swollen

and uncomfortable, there was definitely a substantial improvement. I

believe there's less sinus pressure too, though that's never been too

significant a problem for me.

I do have a question for you, though. How do you prepare the water? Do

you heat filtered water in a pot? Since I'm so under the weather I just

used warm tap water and mixed as much Celtic sea salt in as I could

dissolve, but I don't imagine that's a good idea for long-term use, due to

chlorine and other impurities.
