Guest guest
Hi, I can completely relate! We don't socialize or entertain much, but the friends we do have over have followed the low-fat mentality for a long time, so she probably cringes when she sees me put a " healthy " gob over butter over the veggies I'm serving. Actually, I think I'm finally getting her to see the light. We both had our first children about 3 years ago, and she has been trying to conceive for over a year now. She has been trying fertility clinics and still no luck. I have been telling her about Omeag-3's for some time now and have recently been suggesting she go back to butter instead of margerine. I use the word suggest because as you may have experienced, any more of an aggressive technique meets strong resistance. But, she recently told me that she bought butter for the first time in years. I don't think she believes in WAP principles, but she will do anything at this point to get pregnant. I wouldn't take your extra 40 lbs. (you just had a baby for goodness sakes), or your friends lean physique as evidence of who is right or wrong. There are millions of women who are very thin because they follow a low-fat diet but that is simply the appearance of health. They may have stopped menstrating, cannot conceive and have a whole host of other health problems internally as the direct result of their low-fat diets. But I agree, following this unpopular way of life can be somewhat isolating. Hang in there. I strongly feel we are on the brink of changing tides in health. Keep spreading the word. I think I may have asked you this before, but you don't happen to live in the Bay Area do you? I am looking for likeminds in my area to build friendships with. We are planning our next pregnancy in the next few months, and this will be the first pregnancy following WAP so I would love any advice.
