Guest guest
Colucci writes in Market Day on Sept 28, 2006: " What is scaring the scientists now are the recent developments of the bird flu in Turkey. They fear that the virus may have already mutated and the transmission from one human to the other has now been possible. This is because in the span of a week, 15 people were reported to be infected already. " I can find no report of any human infections in Turkey at this point in time. Maybe Market Day posted a story that was written a year ago, thinking that it was current. When was that outbreak in Turkey? http://www.market-day.net/article_29009/20060928/Has-the-Bird-Flu-Virus- Outbreak-Begun.php
Guest guest
To answer my own question about the date of the Turkey outbreak, it began January 1, 2006. Jan. 1, 2006 – A 14-year-old boy named Mehmet Ali Kocyigit, from Dogubeyazit, Turkey, dies, but health officials say bird flu was not the cause, instead attributing the death to pnuemonia. Jan. 4, 2006 – Mehmet Ali Kocyigit, who died on Jan. 1, is confirmed to have died of bird flu, contradicting the initial report that the boy had died from pneumonia. And it went on with several more deaths in the same town. It was a scary time. The number of human infections increased geometrically for several days. It looked like the real thing. And Colucci seems to be a health writer for Market Day but I could find nothing more about him. It must be an old article that got recycled. -- Don French > > Colucci writes in Market Day on Sept 28, 2006: > > " What is scaring the scientists now are the recent developments of the > bird flu in Turkey.
