Guest guest Posted March 7, 2003 Report Share Posted March 7, 2003 Does anyone know why, after following the NT recipe with great care, the split peas in my soup will not break down and be soft. This is the recipe for Roman Lentil Soup, replacing peas for lentils.I had this happen once before while cooking baked beans. I hope someone will be able to tell me what is going on here. While I'm waiting for your replies, the soup is going into the crock pot for a night of simmering. If they aren't done after around 15 to 20 hours I'm eating it anyway.As of now it does taste yummy, but a the texture is a little lumpy. Tough peas! Who could have imagined.
