I have heard that any kind of artificial sweetener fools the pancreas into

creating a

boost of insulin, thus, causing even more sugar cravings...................

Hi ,

I have heard this too. It's hard to know what to do when you get

conflicting information too. I often go over to Medline to look,

and I enjoy reading up on studies in India on spices, for example

So, this is what I found on the subject on Medline (National Library

of Medicine) From a study in Denmark

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?

cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=11924770 & dopt=Abstract

" In conclusion, stevioside exerts antihyperglycaemic,

insulinotropic, and glucagonostatic actions in the type 2 diabetic

GK rat, and may have the potential of becoming a new antidiabetic

drug for use in type 2 diabetes.

"

And another

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?

cmd=Retrieve & db=PubMed & list_uids=10690946 & dopt=Abstract

My impression is that stevia may not be a problem, but each person

would have to make their own decision though.

I'm sitting here having my morning cup of fresh ginger tea with a

little stevia in it. It's good enough that I probably don't need

stevia, but still trying to wean myself from sweets, sigh...

The " dangers " will be created by the makers of aspartame and other

artificial sweeteners in an attempt to keep people from finding out there

really are no dangers.
