Guest guest
This sounds stupid, but, my mother always had us wet our finger, dip it into some powdered Alum, and then hold our finger on the canker sore for a few minutes. It tastes like s**t but seemed (and still seems) to work.
Guest guest
This sounds more stupid, but works. For canker sore, when it starts place a piece of gold (say gold ring) on the canker sore and it will go away. It won't be nessary to go thru all the stages of a canker. bcleary2 in Va. Guest guest
Hi Y'all Thanks for the canker sore advice. I will try both the Alum and the L Lysine . I know that folic acid is good but only if you are on MTX. I am on oral gold. Kit
Guest guest
Hi BCleary Your idea about the gold ring as a cure for a canker sounds just about as sound as my taking oral gold (which I do).for PA So long as it works who cares if it makes sense. So I say never reject something that seems illogical. Thanks for your help. Kit Hey this might be an interesting topic. Are there any more remedies. I love all the old ones that can't really do a lot of harm. Rusty this one's for you . I think it is the MTX and not the other stuff that is doing the trick. Really really be careful of snake oil. It sounds like your supplements are really expensive and taking so many pills would make me question what each does. Hope you are getting better and feeling grand. Guest guest
Bcleary, You bet the next time a canker sore pops up, I will be trying the gold thing. To me nothing sound stupid if it works for someone. Wow, how simple could some things be!!!! Angera

It's not natural, but using Listerine really kills cancer sores. Just rinse your mouth with it every day. If you want more natural, hydrogen peroxide might work. Cancer sores are also called " aphthous ulcers " and are one of the features of gluten intolerance -- my daughter gets them reliably when she eats any baked goods (which she does occasionally at other people's houses). I'd expect other IgA intolerances might cause them too. See: http://www.aafp.org/afp/980301ap/pruessn.html page 5. Heidi S
Guest guest
I get them too, and I find that rinsing my mouth with diluted grapefruit seed extract helps a lot. Also, in my case I have the cold sore virus, and I don't have any idea if the canker sores are related to that, but I take lysine when a canker sore starts and they heal up faster for me. The pharmacy should have an over the counter product that you can paint over the sore and it coats it with a temporary protective film. I find it stings a little at first, but it helps while the sore heals. I can't remember what it is called, but if you ask them, they should know. Guest guest
I tend to get canker sores when I don't have any raw milk for more than a week. Interestingly, eating pasteurized high-quality yogurt does nothing to relieve this, but drinking raw milk again does. I read an article that said canker sources were indicative of low tissue calcium so I thought the calcium would help. Perhaps this is another anecdote in the bin of evidence that cooked protein is acidicifying and raw protein is alkalinizing. Have you been to the dentist lately? Whenever I go to the dentist I break out in canker sores. Chris ____ " What can one say of a soul, of a heart, filled with compassion? It is a heart which burns with love for every creature: for human beings, birds, and animals, for serpents and for demons. The thought of them and the sight of them make the tears of the saint flow. And this immense and intense compassion, which flows from the heart of the saints, makes them unable to bear the sight of the smallest, most insignificant wound in any creature. Thus they pray ceaselessly, with tears, even for animals, for enemies of the truth, and for those who do them wrong. Guest guest
Heidi, Thanks for the listerine tip. My husband should have some of that stuff, yuck. I never thought of it as a gluten intolerance but I did get them a lot as a child, but eventually they just happened once in a great while. I normally don't eat bread or wheat products that much at all. But I did have a sourdough raisin & pecan bread last week. Well I also ocassionally indulge in some baked goods but this is the first time I have gotten one in a very long time. I am also under a bit of stress so I am sure that doesn't help. What other IgA intolerances would be possible as I am not too familiar with this subject. > > It's not natural, but using Listerine really kills cancer sores. Guest guest
Thanks Laurie. I just might try that if nothing else works. It is a miserable feeling as you know too well. I don't think it is related to a cold sore, they are more like little ulcers or just one. As for cold sores I have never had one of those. Guest guest
interestingly I have been eating a yougurt every day for the past month or so. This week I had family over and did not follow my usual breakfast and also neglected my yogurt. I use Brown Cow as I am still trying to get the raw milk. Have not gone to the dentist lately I usually am ok just dry lips afterwards. Last time I had a canker sore must be over 4 years ago so this is a very unpleasant surprise. They were frequent as a child, and one of my cousins said to put lemon juice on it and it would burn it off. I think he just thought it was funny in his sadistic mind to watch me jump up and down from the awful burning feeling. As for acidifying and alkalizing I don't dabble too much on that subject. It would just end up driving me crazy if I think about my diet too much. Don't get me wrong, I still keep a very close eye on what I eat. As my sisters found out this week grocery shopping with me is quite an adventure. Still, I don't eat refined anything. Carbs, I keep at 25% or less. If I started worrying about acid and alkaline, I would really stress myself out. No offense. But for someone who is worried about this it would be helpful. Thanks. B. Guest guest
I had one very painful and long lasting (weeks and weeks)canker sore, which I finally ended with tea tree oil. I heard, after using it, to never use essential oils full strength on skin and there I was putting a little directly on the canker sore in my mouth! I didn't have any reactions other than the canker sore went a way in a speedy fashion. I was thrilled to see it go. I was under rather extreme stress at the time, but the tea tree worked anyway. Welcome to the club -- they are not well understood. The usual " allergies " are IgE intolerances, but there are 4 other immune reactions, IgA, IgG, IgM, and IgH (I think?). IgA seems to create a rather potent immune response -- the substances that I have heard of that create IgA responses, besides gluten, are eggs and casein, but it is still under study. Guest guest
The only time I get canker sores is when I eat oranges and other citrus fruit or when I eat or drink anything that specifically contains a lot of citrus or citrus juice. Guest guest
From what I've read, these are usually caused by a food allergy. For me, I had them ALOT in the past, on a regular basis. I have recently found that they are caused by a allergy to wheat! This is no joke, but when I have any sort of wheat product, I get a canker sore within 12-24 hours! But I have found that my long fermented sourdough bread does not affect me like that. Yay! The absolute best thing I've found to heal up a canker sore fast is Swedish Bitters. Works great! Makes them go away if you apply some to the sore with a Q-tip or something(and let it soak in a bit). Hope this helps, Becky
Guest guest
concerning acid/alkaline foods.. yes, one can get neurotic thinking about it too much you probably have a canker sore because you said you had eaten some pecan bread (nuts high in arginine contributing factor..) ~another factor is your PH could be out of whack -Are you rebounding?? You need to be rebounding/lymphasizing as much as possible... get electrical potential of cell back up! The bad guys are taking over because of your PH levels... you need outer fluid PH below 4.0 and inner cellular fluid above 6.9 If you email me personally I can tell you more about lymphology PH oxygen etc jen " And we have made of ourselves living cesspools, and driven doctors to invent names for our diseases.
