From the abstract: The plain and heated extracts were found to exhibit varying degrees of inhibition against Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Clostridium sporogenes, Clostridium tetani, and Streptococcus pyogenes.

The key here is "varying degrees", which might mean that it is not 100% effective. Capsicum, by the way, is an active ingredient in a number of topical arthritis relief medications, some of which might be available in your local pharmacy. Check the labels. I should also note, since I've had some personal experience with capsicum in this form, that it's not always as effective against arthritis pain as many arthritics would like it to be. I think you mean: Insufficient attention is being paid BY OFFICIAL MEDICINE—which has been in bed with Big Pharma for a hundred years—to the curative properties of capsicum, otherwise known as the ingredient that gives all hot peppers its heat.

Antimicrobial properties of chile peppers (Capsicum species)

A survey of the Mayan pharmacopoeia revealed that tissues of Capsicum species (Solanaceae) are included in a number of herbal remedies for a variety of ailments of probable microbial origin. Using a filter disk assay, plain and heated aqueous extracts from fresh Capsicum annuum, Capsicum baccatum, Capsicum chinense, Capsicum frutescens, and Capsicum pubescens varieties were tested for their antimicrobial effects with fifteen bacterial species and one yeast species. Two pungent compounds found in Capsicum species (capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin) were also tested for their antimicrobial effects. The plain and heated extracts were found to exhibit varying degrees of inhibition against Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis, Clostridium sporogenes, Clostridium tetani, and Streptococcus pyogenes.

Capsicum is great stuff, but I found no evidence that it’s antiviral.

poured into multiple containers

put in frig

taste test while pouring

Wish had a "like" button that went only to the sender and didn't bother the list ;-)It does sound like a really tasty sauce - I like sweet and hot, sweet and sour, sweet and salty (are you getting the theme here?)

I am sure the Lexan will do it. As long as you keep a fire

extinguisher on hand. ha ha

I have two of the old stainless steel container VM's (one was ours

and one we gave my mother in law who left it to us, both purchases

in 77 or 78 and still run, though I need parts of spouts and a

gasket thingy for where blade attaches, the motors are fine). I have

the new model in my kitchen and plan the other two for the RV's.

I picked up a THIRD old goldie Vitamix at an auction last week-3600 model for 22 bucks! In MINT condition! I needed another like a hole in the head, but wasn't going to let THAT lil gem pass me by! Love my shiny new red one, but lots of nostalgia with the oldies too. Am thinking my sister in law might be getting a little present soon...

I do wish VM would bring back the parts that break most often-the

plastic spout! I am out of business on both machines simply for lack

of spout (I could make a gasket for lid if I had to). I really don't

want to buy another can to get those parts, as I already have two

that are good but for spouts. baa humbug  IF I had known that was

coming years back when they switched from stainless to lexan, I

would have bought three or four from them to have spares. At the

time, I had sort of stopped using it because of the problem, and not

paying attention.

I hated the spout on them too! I used to get seeds stuck in there when I was grinding grains-once some quinoa seeds got stuck in there and sprouted! I saw green peeking through the spout and plucked out a big ol' sprout, lol. NOT the kind of harvest I want, thank you!

Ha Ha, that is funny indeed. I found one of the two stainless steel

containers and indeed the bearing was bad and Mel had it apart at

some point so when I found it the blade was sitting loose in the

can. That might be a problem. Now to find the lid and the other

container to see where I'm at with it.
