Guest guest
Thanks Again, I still remeber picking up the first issue in 93 since a friend recommended it highly. I picked up one recently and it is very diferent indeed. > The BFL program is designed to be used for 12 weeks. Do it any longer > and you will be grossly overtrained. How do you know if you are > overtrained? You will not be getting any stronger from each workout, > you will have no energy, no motivation, feel tired, you won't feel > like training - we all know the feeling, it's just most don't realise > what it is. This is exactly why I stopped training. I thought I was just feeling lazy I still do pilates though. > Saying that, the exercises are ideal, you just need to do them less > often. I can give you an idea of what I mean if you want? Yes if you can please do so. you may email me if you would like. I dislike using the word diet, but it actually comes from the Greek word diaita, which means way of life. So your diet is pretty simple no counting grams of anything? That is great. It is not fun when you go out to dinner and try to find low fat entrees, can you imagine, yes I would rather have steamed fish than a delicious Sole Veronique(it is poached in butter) Yeah sure! Seriously your diet sounds not too difficult. Basically right now I am beign more liberal with my fats, and I don't feel as hungry. I try to eat grass fed if possible. My only problem is with milk, I have never liked the taste of it. I can definitely follow it, surely the lack of fat was making it impossible for me to keep my eating in order. I was craving ice cream, custards, cakes and what not. I find that with the added fat I am not craving sweets as much. Thanks for the link on the food additives it was certainly informative. What country are you in? I believe in France it is not legal to add chemical food colorings, they can however use certain natural based colorings as I have been reading. Right now I am reading the english version of History of Food. It is actually quite interesting, however I don't truly agree with all information and of course the english version has a chapter about the wonders of soy and the dangers of fat. But it is interesting reading about the ancient methods for gathering honey and making mead. My NT book is on the way! Thanks again M. Guest guest
Hi Bella I am in Australia. Are you enjoying the pilates? It's great for building your core strngth and to get you " aligned " . My wife and I train once a week. We train to failure (if I mention a term you are not familiar with please ask), using a 3-1-3 motion. The exercises we do are Squats, bench press, chin ups and deadlifts. After a warm-up we do 1 working set per exercise to failure. We try to get around 8-10 reps for our working set. The training session lasts about 20 minutes. Have you heard of this type of training before? We have a couple of Sally's tapes and she says in one if you go out for a meal, one of the best things you can have is bacon and eggs. Animal fats, some nitrates in the bacon, but overall a pretty good compromise meal. Our diet is fairly simple, and we do spend a bit of time in preperation, but we love doing it. In NT Sally also mentions a very interesting and not much thought about fact. Fat has twice the calories per gram compared to Carb and protein (9gm for fat and 4 for carb and pro), but when eaten will stop you from feeling hungry again for 4 times longer than carbs or protein! So the best way to decrease your total caloric income per day is to increase your fat intake. There's a radical thought! Regards M
Guest guest
Hi M, I almost missed your message. You are in Australia, that's great. I have friends from Sydney but they are in the states as of now, they can't wait to go back. I love doing Pilates they have helped with the post pregnancy stomach quite a lot also with the back pain. The training method you are talking about sounds very familiar I believe that I have read about it before or it might have been super slow reps but I know what you are talking about. I also notcied that you use mostly compound exercises that is a great idea. Get this, since adding the extra fat to my diet about 2 weeks ago, my waist measurement is down 1/2 inch. I find myself eating healthier, and I definitely have more energy. Usually I will start out my morning with 2 eggs fried in butter. I might have some toast if I feel like it or not. For dinner I still have protein and vegetables but I add a rich sauce. But this alone has helped with the afternoon slump so many experience. The constant hunger has also subsided since doing this. Ha, now I can enjoy that delicious goose liver pate without guilt. The NT book finally arrived, great recipes, even my husband agreed with most of the material. I can't wait to start experimenting.
