Guest guest
Orally, I usually use powdered magnesium citrate. Transdermally I use Magnesium Chloride (also known a Nigari which is used to make tofu). Here is a copy of some information I sent off group to someone who asked: There is much information on transdermal absorption of magnesium - it has been found that 1 year on oral delivers much less magnesium to the cells than a few months of transdermal. Norm Shealy (the inventor of the TENS machine) has written books on this subject. I have been using the Twilight products, especially the Prill Beads for drinking water http://www.katking.com/Twilight/TwilightMain.htm . However, I have found that Nigari (any brand as long as it is magnesium chloride), works about as well for transdermal application: 1> Foot Baths 2> Full Baths 3> On location as a compress 4> mixed with other ingredients to make a mask. Hope this helps, Kat http://www.katking.com ----- Original Message ----- From: <tractionpads@...> < > Sent: Thursday, January 30, 2003 4:55 PM Subject: magnesium questions > " You can find pure magnesium chloride in [..] under the name Nigari (used to make tofu). Guest guest
Kat, what ingredients would you use to make a 'magnesium mask' and how would you use it? Guest guest
My Magnesium mask (lotions and moisturizers) include different things for different " moods, " or applications. I have been doing this for years, and involved in alternative health for years, so some of the ingredients are rather unusual. I have shared links from my web site in the past, and you can also find information on them on the web if you have an interest. Here are some of the ingredients I mix and match (not all at once): Therapeutic essential oils (I never USE THE JUNK FROM THE STORES) Oils: raw-virgin coconut oil Emu grapeseed oil Vitamin E Shea Butter Magnesium that has been melted in Prill water. ORME- Means orbitally rearranged monoatomic elements. Adds vitality. Misc: Raw honey, Vitamin C, CoQ, Stevia plant. Have fun, Kat http://www.katking.com ----- Original Message ----- From: " Rundle " <Dpdg@...> < > Sent: Friday, January 31, 2003 5:30 AM Subject: Re: magnesium questions > Kat, > what ingredients would you use to make a 'magnesium mask' and how would you use it? > TIA > Dedy
Guest guest
Here are a few links I found. Some are scientific, some are not. A total digression: I do not recommend trying the painkiller meloxicam, I think it made my polyps bigger even though I didn't have a full-blown aspirin-allergic response. My allergist didn't think I would react to it--he was wrong, I was very congested all day after taking it. Yesterday morning I could smell somewhat, today not at all. This article has to do with magnesium and seasonal allergic rhinitis http://grande.nal.usda.gov/ibids/index.php?mode2=detail & origin=ibids_references & \ therow=207103 A Japanese study of diet and minerals and their affect on rhinitis http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16406247 A non-scientific site about magnesium. I think this one says something about steroid nasal sprays having all the same dangers as oral steroid meds. We know this isn't true, so take with a grain of salt. http://www.ctds.info/5_13_magnesium.html Basic info about the role of magnesium in the diet. Says nothing about rhinitis, but I included it because it's from the NIH. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002423.htm What doctors don't tell you. We could fill a book! References some animal studies done about rhinitis, sinusitis, and the effects of magnesium. http://www.healthy.net/scr/Article.asp?Id=6724 & xcntr=
Guest guest
No you do not need to take Calcium for Magnesium absorption. It is the opposite. In order to absorb calcium you need adequate amounts of magnesium. Most get enough calcium w/o supplementing. It is the magnesium that we are woefully deficient on. Mg is needed in over 300 enzyme reactions in the body. When deficient you are more susceptible to autoimmune thyroid conditions because the Mg keeps the Ca in the oxidation process in check along with sufficient iodine (iodolipids). I have used Mg Oil. I use Ancient Minerals. It is beneficial to some who have issues with digestion / absorption as it bypasses the gut since it is transdermal. A great book for you to read is Transdermal Magnesium Therapy by Dr Mark Sircus. Buist, ND HC magnesium questions On the list of supporting nutrients for taking Iodine is 400 mgs. of Magnesium a day... a couple questions.... I always thought that the only way magnesium is absorbed correctly by the body is by also supplimenting with calicium. Is that correct? Currently I'm on a suppliment called "Ultra Minerals." I take 6 a day. 3 in the a.m. and 3 in the p.m. On the suppliment facts it list many types of minerals but as far as the magnesium (as oxide, citrate) 500 mgs in 4 tablet and calicium there is 1000 mgs per 4 tablets. Again, I take 6 of these a day. Does this ratio sound okay???? Should I be taking calcium on the iodine protocol? I also noticed that there's Magnesium oil that is applied topically. Has anyone used magnesium oil with good results? I have melanoma, am hypothroid, have a goiter, very low energy (very unlike me) have gained 40 pounds over the past 2 years...BIG YUCK! Never been over weight before. I read some on the magnesium oil and just wondered if this would be better for me then taking a suppliment orally. Do I NEED to take a calcium suppliment for Magnesium to work correctly? Thank you all so much! Lory

Guest guest
Thanks, , for this info on Mg Oil, and for the book reference. Dr. Sircus also has a website I found very informative. It would be good for those who might want to find out more of the importance of magnesium in general and transdermal magnesium therapy in specific but aren't ready to buy the book. It is magnesiumforlife.com. Robin > > No you do not need to take Calcium for Magnesium absorption. It is the opposite. In order to absorb calcium you need adequate amounts of magnesium.
