Sorry I don't have time to fully participate in this discussion, and haven't

read all the posts, so I hope I " m not repeating information here (school just

started and is very demanding of time so far), but...

I agree with the perspective that raw meat is alkaline or non-acidic and

cooked meat protein is acidic. I can't include Walcott's work, because he

didn't explain evidence very much in MTD, so I'm excluding it for now.

A lot of people have told me they improved their teeth by eating raw meat.

Steffanson found that the Inuit he studied did not produce putrefecatory

acids in the urine when meat was raw, as they did when it was cooked. This

also explains why acid-alkaline charts include raw milk under alkaline and

pasteurized under acid. This came up on the list before and none of us could

figure out why. But it makes perfect sense-- the protein is metabolized

differently. Since just added that some theorize raw protein is not

acidic, this ties it all together for me.

So Jen, if you are concerned about the osteoperosis, I'd just eat half my

animal protein raw to be on the safe side. That said, people who consume

more animal protein have lower rates of bone problems, and I'm sure most

Americans in that study ate it cooked. Thing is, the proteins might be

acidifying, but what about all the minerals, the fat-soluble vitamins that

contribute to mineral utilization, etc? Once its all factored in, meat is

good for your bones.

Of course, raw meat is just that much better.

" What can one say of a soul, of a heart, filled with compassion? It is a

heart which burns with love for every creature: for human beings, birds, and

animals, for serpents and for demons. The thought of them and the sight of

them make the tears of the saint flow. And this immense and intense

compassion, which flows from the heart of the saints, makes them unable to

bear the sight of the smallest, most insignificant wound in any creature.

Thus they pray ceaselessly, with tears, even for animals, for enemies of the

truth, and for those who do them wrong. "
