Hi a:

I don't have any advise re: the CLO, but just wanted to say that I had my

third son with a midwife. It was sooo much better than at the hospital with

my first two sons. Congratulations and good luck! How exciting!

Hi a,

First, congrats to your pregnancy! I'm pregnant, too. 6th month. I

decided to not take any prenatal vitamins and stick with cod liver

oil, because I read that article Dr. Ron mentioned about the

synthetic forms of A & D interfering with the natural forms. I'm just

hoping I'm doing the right thing.

I'm also trying to be conscious about getting all the other minerals

and vitamins in food form. I take Vitamin E as in wheat germ oil, eat

and drink ginger a lot for zinc and eat lots of those vegetables said

to contain lots of folic acid, like eggplant. I also drink only real

milk, because it doesn't have synthetic Vit. D added. I have a lot of

fermented stuff, too, as milk kefir, water kefir, some kombucha and

beet kvass.

( other foods I'm eating - oh boy, if I told any of my dr's they'd

freak out...) are raw fish and meats. ( as prepared in NT) I've even

eaten some raw oysters, because everything else that restaurant had

was deep fried...I'm just hoping, my baby won't come out a

freak...all I do feels very counterproductive..no peace of mind

really ;-)

But so far I've gained about 15 lbs.( I have a history of not gaining

enough), I'm never constipated and feel pretty good overall.

I'll tell you about the results of my irresponsible lifestyle:-)

Wouldn't the oils of other livers also be high in those vitamins?

I would want to investigate more into the contribution of cod liver oil to

their endangerment. Using CLO is in a way very ecological because it uses

what would otherwise get thrown away... I wonder how much cod livers are used

for CLO vs cod fished for fish, and whether a lot of livers still get thrown

away. If so, we could reduce the number of cod fished while still

maintaining production of CLO.

Not saying it's the case, just hoping ;-)

" What can one say of a soul, of a heart, filled with compassion? It is a

heart which burns with love for every creature: for human beings, birds, and

animals, for serpents and for demons. The thought of them and the sight of

them make the tears of the saint flow. And this immense and intense

compassion, which flows from the heart of the saints, makes them unable to

bear the sight of the smallest, most insignificant wound in any creature.

Thus they pray ceaselessly, with tears, even for animals, for enemies of the

truth, and for those who do them wrong. "

What do you think we should looking for to replace cod liver oil now cod is an

endangered

species?

The European Commission wants to reduce catches of endangered species such as

cod and

haddock by up to 80%. I don't fancy taking the oil of farmed cod after reading a

piece

about the horrors of fish farming.

I

recommend from one to three tablespoonfuls daily to most of my patients. Carlson

Laboratories' imports lemon-flavored Norwegian cod liver oil which is of top

quality and is

palatable for most people. "
