Well, my gallbladder is gone. The surgeon felt it was a successful surgery,

and I will see him next week to discuss it and look at photos.

I will say this has been a much more painful experience than I expected.

Everyone I talked to who has had the laproscopic surgery said they had very

little pain. I have hardly slept since surgery (yesterday at 7:45 am) and I

have been on large amounts of pain medication. I don't know if it's because

of my size that is making it more painful or what, but I'm looking forward

to relief from this pain. Today is definitely an improvement from

yesterday.

The surgeon did find a small spot on my liver, which he removed and sent for

a biopsy. Thank the Lord that it turned out to be nothing. He also looked

around at my other organs as well since my tests were all borderline prior

to surgery.

I have not had any diahrrea either, and that is a relief off of my mind,

since I have read about this slim possibility. But I am also taking

acidophilus, which is supposed to bind the bile acids and help prevent this

side effect.

I'm looking forward to this fresh start and hope to be enjoying my fruits

and veggies again soon. Brown rice is getting boring! I'm also looking

forward to cleansing my system once I am healed and have my strength back.

Just wanted to update you on my surgery and progress.

I am happy you are doing okay. Everyone is just different, I guess, and will

respond to surgery differently. Hope you will feel healthy again soon.

>>Today is definitely an improvement from

yesterday.<<

You will probably find that each day is a vast improvement from the one

before.

Drink lots of water, the pain meds can lead to constipation.

I think I expected lots of pain, so the pain I had didn't seem bad because i

expected worse. It was a few days before i was comfortable sleeping on my

side. When you do try to sleep on either side, a pillow against your tummy

will help support it, so that your healing muscles don't have to do all the

work. I took lots of pain meds for the first few days, then decreased the

dosage. By the fifth day I was just taking an occasional Tylenol. I was

just amazed I guess, because Iknow a few people who have had it done the

other way, and laparoscopic recovery is nothing compared to that.

Keep us posted. You'll feel even better tomorrow!

Debra
