Guest guest
Dear Panama Bob, Where have you been? The food porn industry has been gaining strength and corrupting our youth ever since Procter & Gamble introduced the unmentionable in 1911. Controlling our urges to eat delicious but deadly foods is hard. NT is pretty awesome in that is combines good health with good eats (eg butter). And being a person who loves to eat, I do believe that truly healthy food should be delicious and pleasurable to eat. No wonder those trying to stay on a fat free diet are miserable! No fat = no taste. But I still miss (and occasionally indulge in) the following food porn: > > excellent battered french fries from a restaurant > chocolate in all forms > best food's mayo > potato chips > croissants and french pastries in general > ritz crackers > wheat thins > haagen daaz ice cream bars (dark choc. with vanilla ice cream) > frappacinos from Starbucks (gasp!) > > The list could go on, but I wouldn't want to cause more harm! > > Best, > > The evil harridan > >
Guest guest
Yes, that is very true and SAD, but this list had hopefully been sanctuary to those heathens hedonistic practices... a bastion against Frito Lay, a reprieve from Hamburger Helper, a wall to protect from unpronounceable food additives. Please..lets keep the infidels at bay and not let them pollute the sacrosanct chambers of the true faithful. :-) > Dear Panama Bob, > > Where have you been? It is a heart which burns with love for every creature: for human beings, birds, and animals, for serpents and for demons. The thought of them and the sight of them make the tears of the saint flow. And this immense and intense compassion, which flows from the heart of the saints, makes them unable to bear the sight of the smallest, most insignificant wound in any creature. Thus they pray ceaselessly, with tears, even for animals, for enemies of the truth, and for those who do them wrong. Guest guest
- >I've been called many things, but this particular term of endearment had >yet to be hurled my way. Controlling our urges to eat delicious but >deadly foods is hard. Actually, I was being a little unfair, even tongue in cheek as I was. My girlfriend made peanut butter pie for Christmas dessert -- with plenty of sugar which made me feel terribly sick, but it was so insanely delicious it was worth every ache and pain. I suppose peanut butter pie sounds sort of trailer trashy, but trust me, it's not. That said, if she ever threatens to make peanut butter pie again, I'm breaking up with her. <g> >And being a person who loves to eat, I do believe that truly healthy food >should be delicious and pleasurable to eat. Amen to that! And low-carb and NT-style eating allow for all kinds of wonderfully pleasurable eating, which makes sense, since we evolved eating the richest (and generally fattiest) foods we could find. >excellent battered french fries from a restaurant >chocolate in all forms >best food's mayo >potato chips >croissants and french pastries in general >ritz crackers >wheat thins >haagen daaz ice cream bars (dark choc. with vanilla ice cream) >frappacinos from Starbucks (gasp!) Hmm, a lot of those you could make tastier as well as healthier versions of at home, actually, though I guess you'd need some sort of fryer for the fries. I still eat some chocolate, but only in the form of unsweetened chocolate or cocoa powder. I sometimes make warm raw-cream cocoa with saccharine (trying not to heat the cream too much) and occasionally I'll use some actual chocolate, which is probably healthier than the cocoa anyway. What's special about Best Food's mayo? I don't think I've ever tried the brand, but mayo's really easy to make if you have a food processor. I guess it's probably pretty expensive to be able to make all those things at home, though. You'd need a fryer, a food processor, maybe a cast iron kettle, a good coffee maker and a good blender or drink mixer, and an ice cream machine. And all that stuff would be hard to fit in a city apartment's kitchen. <g> -
Guest guest
Hmm, a lot of those you could make tastier as well as healthier versions of at home ****I do! Except crakers--haven't tried those yet (no dehydrator) but from discussions on this list, they are difficult to make. What's special about Best Food's mayo? ****this is the same as " hellman's " and I grew up with it--just love the stuff. My homemade mayo is delicious and healthy, but isn't really the same thing. BTW, I don't have hellman's in my kitchen anymore, just the homemade stuff. And all that stuff would be hard to fit in a city apartment's kitchen. <g> ****ain't that the truth!
