Also, I was thinking about taking up mountain biking . . . the man in my life

suggested that I look further into as neither of us know much about it. He

said there is a lot more involved and that I may or may not be able to do some

of the stuff with the bike that is required. This means nothing to me since

I've never been on a mountain bike. Do any of you have any input?

Thanks,

I mountain bike as well. Depending on the terrain, you might need a

different bike from your street bike; and for climbing hills and such,

it might require extra leg work, although I don't have that problem. One

thing I don't do is ride after rains or in the wind - rains make too

much mud that is hard to ride in and wind provides more resistance than

I need. A helmet, knee/elbow pads, gloves and other protective gear

might be necessary. If you hit a rock, it can send you flying. Try out

some gentle trail riding first, (you can use your street bike for this)

till you get used to riding and paying attention to the environment.

That's what I did. In the meantime, any exercise that can strengthen

your legs will benefit you on a mountain bike. Mountain biking also

makes me very thirsty, so I carry more water with me.
