Watch Report On Telaprevir/@ Todaysthv.com

Nearly four million Americans have Hepatitis C. It's the most common condition leading to liver transplantation in the U.S. and can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer if left untreated.

The standard treatment for Hepatitis C cures about 40 percent of patients, but causes severe side effects. For patients who fail to respond, the only backup is a second round of the same punishing treatment.

Now, a clinical trial out of Duke University Medical Center finds adding the investigational drug telaprevir to the standard two-drug therapy during re-treatment cures four times more patients.

In tonight's Healthy Difference on "Today's THV at 5:00" and todaysthv.com , Stefanie will have more on the drug, that has its own risks when used.
