Guest guest
Yes, my hands sometimes " get stuck " in a sort of curled position and I have to use my other hand to move the fingers - it seems to happen more when I am doing something involving doing something small with my hands. I've been wearing AFOs for thirty years. I've fortunately never had burning or other pain with my CMT. I think my nerves died peacefully while others fight for life. Guest guest
Deb, I believe that swelling of the hands can be a little bit of carpal tunnel and CMT. I always heard that people w/ CMT have a greater chance of developing carpal tunnel because the nerves are being pinched that reach the fingers. It's difficult to distinguish between CTS and CMT affecting the hands. I don't have CTS, but I do have CMT. I'm 25 and already have a difficult time wearing rings. The only one that still fits comfortably is my wedding band. As for my Dad, he's 51 and suffers from both CMT and CTS. He's had surgery in his right hand twice, and left once for CTS. He can no longer wear his wedding band, due to swelling. Just a little of what I know. Hope that helps. A.
Guest guest
Deb: My feet are like walking arond on extremly painful over inflated balloons. My hands feel swollen but do not look it. My hands are dead on the outside but continually hurt to distraction. I wish i could give the MD/CMT to someone for a day without meds to see how much we have made the pain a normal part of life like eating and going to the restroom. good luck: michael
