Sign up for the break out-groups will be at time of registration. Maximum of 15

persons will

be accepted per group. Each group will have 10 minutes to give their groups

presentation at

3:00 pm. Flip charts will be available to use while the break-out groups meet

and will be

brought in to the main conference area at the time of presentations.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

Breakout sessions are for focused discussions on a particular topic by a small

group of

conference participants. There will be guidelines provided for the discussions.

A leader will

moderate and a secretary will take notes. Each group will choose a presenter to

summarize

the group’s discussion in a brief presentation to the conference participants

following the

breakout sessions.

The objective for each group is to define two goals in their specific area that

can be

accomplished in the next year. The goals outlined by the breakout groups will

become the

basis for the California Hepatitis C Task Force’s agenda for the coming year.

Obviously the

California Hepatitis C Task Force cannot accomplish every goal defined by these

groups,

but will evaluate all of them and choose those that can be accomplished with

available

resources. The list of goals will be published as a report by the California

Hepatitis C Task

Force and will be used to communicate with state leaders, lawmakers and

interested

citizens. The list will also be reviewed at the 2005 California Inter-County

Hepatitis C Task

Force Conference to assess how much progress has been made. Your input is

crucial to

developing a strategy and working plan for Hepatitis C efforts in California

over the next

several years.

It is important to consider the following guidelines when defining your group’s

goals:

1. The goal can be accomplished in one year.

2. The goal meets identified needs in your community.

3. It can be expanded from a community level model to a statewide model.

4. It has a measurable outcome.

5. You can identify resources to accomplish your goal.

6. You can list specific steps needed to accomplish your goal.
