Guest guest
I have a sixteen year old daughter who was told she had CMT at age twelve, she has wore AFOs since. The problem that she has now is her feet are turning in and deforming so that their is only so much correcting that they can do to the AFOs other wise she is in discomfort. She is in no pain wearing the AFOs now that we had them made so that they do not try to correct her feet. She does get some pain after wearing them all day long. But her feet are getting worse. We thought we would look into surgery to correct her feet. We saw two surgeons when she was twelve and they both said yes to it and to do it before her feet tighten up, in which they are starting. Just the other day we saw a new surgeon who also thought we should go with surgey. We will see another surgeon next month. As her parents we are new to all of this and are very scared of the outcome of surgery. Please if anyone has any comments or good questions we should be asking we would be very gratefull....!!!!!! Elaine from Michigan, I have found your comments a eye opener from other doctors that say if their is no pain, do not operate. Would you like to supply us with the names of these doctors so we can see their side of the coin? We live in Royal Oak, Mi Much thanks to everyone in this group !!! I keep every bit of info.
