I have had horrible SI joint problems stemming from a series

of falls a couple years ago. I have tried everything from

ice packs and resting on the couch to steroid shots, narcotics,

physical therapy, chiropractic, SI bracing, special chairs

and cushions, etc... You name it, I've probably tried it.

The doctor says that with the CMT and arthritis in my spine

in that area in addition to the repeat blows to that area

have caused an injury that I'll have to deal with off and on

forever. I go through periods where it's fine and not

bothering me at all and then all it takes is sitting too

long, doing too much standing or walking or to lie the wrong

way, (I tried relaxing on our hammock and that was a HUGE

mistake), or even riding in a car that has poor seats, and

the pain gets unbearable.

Sitting or lying on hard surfaces is unbearable. I have had

to quit my job because I can't sit for extended periods of

time and it got to be too difficult. It's also causing

numbness in my legs and feet that I never had prior to the

injuries. If anyone has had back problems like this and has

some suggestions I know I'd be happy to hear them. My doctor

is at a loss for any new solutions and I've even been to the

CMT clinic and to a rehab specialist down at Wayne State

University and they have no new solutions for me either.

Some days the pain is so horrible that it really gets me

depressed and wondering if I'll ever have a day when I'm not

hurting again.
