Guest guest
Hi , I have had cortisone/steroid shots numerous times in my life for different reasons. The only 'adverse effect' I had with them all is that about 6-8 hours later I would feel " jumpy " (meaning nervous) and had a difficult time sleeping that evening. I have also had cortisone orally (by mouth) for short periods and the oral tablets don't seem to have these effects, just another one - I would get puffy - meaning retain water. Paolo did mention to me that cortisone weakens muscles, but I haven't had that experience. While we don't have poison ivy here, we've got everything else just about. For a rash that summer plants and grasses give me sometimes, I use very small amounts of a low-steroid base cream - 1% Triamcinolone. It vanishes nicely and takes away the itching quickly. I also use ice to stop itching with that. ~ Gretchen
