Guest guest
Here is a compilation of what I have learned about flushing since 1975. This may seem overly rigorous to some people however, those of us who have been dealing with long term chronic illness tend to try to be as deep and thorough as we can be with our home medicine methods. I have been through irritable bowel, chronic constipation, allergies, very severe lead poisoning, bells palsy, esophagitis, kidney surgery, very severe headaches. Even though I am not fully out " the other side " of all this, if you saw me today you would never know that I am still not well. I mention this as a little inspiration for folks trying to do this who might be wondering during nausea at 4am why the h*** they ever got into any of this. Stick with it! I am happy to answer any questions about anything in this email. Liver Gall Bladder Flush Previous to the actual flush process, it can be useful to do the following: Chinese Bitters and Coptis Extract One Bottle each 3 weeks After these are finished, go through two bottles of Gold Coin Grass 1 month. See end of article for information on these formulas. Hydrangea Tea: Two capsules in 4 ounces of boiling water let steep for 3-4 minutes drink all tea including the actual ingredients in the bottom of the cup. Doing this every 4-5 days during your preparatory period will clear the kidneys of any crystalized material and make your flush that much easier. High quality Hydrangea is available through many herb companies. We appreciate the caps made by Nature¹s Sunshine. Every monring: Walk 1-3 miles as hard as you can preceeded by two large glasses of warm water. Incidentally, I am finding Dr. Batmanghelidj's Rehydration Program to be a fantastic accompaniment to flushing. His book " The Body's Many Cries for Water " is a fantastic read. He poses that 80 per cent of all chronic illness is caused by chronic dehydration because after age twenty we begin to lose our sense of thirst. As a result, I have been drinking for some time now almost a gallon a day. NOTE: The body will not rehydrate unless every 8 ounce glass is followed by a pinch of salt. The above mentioned preparatory work makes the flushing more effective and often much easier to do. 1) For 5 days prior to the flush, drink as much apple cider or pure apple juice as your appetite permits between meals. Take 30 drops of orthophos in the apple juice 3x a day for the full five days. If you have too much trouble with blood sugar, take 10 drops of orthophos 6 times a dayfor the five days and do not do the apple juice. Make sure you drink OrthoPhosphoric acid through a straw or else it will destroy the enamel on your teeth. For those of you doing the apple juice fast on the apple juice the last 2-3 days of the five days. If the above is not acceptable because of blood sugar or apple allergy problems, take one cap of mallic acid every 2-3 hours for five days and eat normally with low fat. (I do not have experience with using only malic acid caps). Once or twice a week for one month before and then once a day for the four days leading up to the flush apply an abdominal castor oil pak: - Fold wool flannel so that it is 3-4 layers thick - Saturate wool with castor oil - Place in baking dish and heat slowly in oven so that pad becomes very hot but not too hot to place on your skin. - Rub castor oil onto abdomen - Lay pak on to the abdomen - Cover with saran wrap or plastic - Cover with heating pad for one hour keep heating pad as warm as you can without burning skin - Remove flannel and wash skin - Store flannel in baking dish in zip lock bag - If flannel becomes significantly discolored, discard. 2) On the fifth day, take nothing but water from noon on. It is fine to take fresh squeezed lemon or grapefruit in the water during this time. All water taken during the flush should be distilled or R/O only. 3) 3pm drink 2 tbs of epsom salts in 6oz of warm water. A more palatable alternative to epsom salts is magnesium citrate which can be found in most drug stores under the name of Citroma. Drink half a bottle. It is fine to drink a small amount of freshly squeezed citrus juice after this. 4) 5pm: Take a coffee enema with 1/4 cup of epsom salts 6pm: Drink 2 tbs of epsom salts or the other half of the bottle of Citroma OR take another coffee enema with 1/4 to 1/2 cup of epsom salts desolved in it. Retain for as long as you can up to 15 minutes. - Coffee Enema - Coffee must be organically grown available at any health food store - Enema bag - Colon tube (also known as catheter) Find size FR22 or FR28. These are usually available through a hospital supply or a drug store. - Lubricant - Coffee should be cooked in steel or glass never aluminum - Unboiled coffee is the preferred method i.e. make using a drip filter. You can also fill pan with water, bring to a boil and immediately turn off flame. Add the desired amount of coffee and steep until cooled to the desired temperature. Strain and use. - Always use distilled or R/O water for coffee enemas. - Use 1 tsp to 4 tbs of coffee for enema and place in one quart of water. If you experience jitteriness form the enema decrease amount used. If you are dealing with chronic fatiqgue or epstein barr, you may want to use yerba mate instead. - Coffee enemas should always be done AFTER a bowel movement. - Hang bag no more than 2 feet above the ground. - Inserting a colon tube: Most prefer to do this on their left side. Sometimes twisting and turning catheter helps with insertion. Some suggest that momentarily withdrawing tube the tube slightly can help tube around ³tough corners². Never use force to get tube in. Whole procedure should be gentle and easy. Insert as far as colon comfortably allows. The idea here is that with a normal enema tip, liquid makes contact with the body at just above the rectum or the end of the colon. The enema tube gets the liquid up into the transverse colon and enables the coffee to make direct contact with the hepatic flexure thereby stimulating the liver to increase its flow of bile. It may take a number of these before you are fully comfortable with the process. - Once all or as much of the liquid as possible is in, lay on left side for five minutes, back for five minutes and right side ffor five minutes. - After 15 minutes expel enema. 5) Bedtime: Take 1/2 cup of warm unrefined olive oil and blend it with 1/2 cup of either freshly squeezed lemon or grapefruit juice. Alternative method: Squeeze enough lemons or grapefruits to make one cup of juice. Warm one pint of unrefined olive oil. Take four tablespoons of olive oil, followed by a tablespoon of juice. Repeat this process every 15 minutes until the entire pint of olive oil has been consumed. This should take 8-9 does. Then drink the remaining juice. This alternative method can be helpful for two reasons: Some people have trouble getting the blended juice/oil mix down and this enables one to take a little more time to get ity down. Also, by doing it the second way, one gets a layering effect which can facilitate a fairly even series of expansion (lemon) and contraction (oil) as the liquid makes its way through the liver and gallbladder. Tips: It can be useful to rinse your mouth out with ginger ale. This almost immediately gets rid of the taste and smell of the olive oil. Pinching one¹s nose when taking the oil can work well too. Any nausea felt during this process is an indication that the gall bladder is being stimulated. Only rarely do people vomit. If vomitting occurs, as nasty as it may taste, there has never been anything in print that says that vomitting at this time could be dangerous. 6) Immediately after finishing the the oil and juice, lie on your right side with the knee drawn up to the chin for 20 minutes before going to sleep. This encourages the oil to drain from the stomach into the small intestine. Nausea commonly occurs during the night when the gallbladder has been stimulated to release in this way. If there is a strong feeling of nausea in the middle of the night or the next morning, try to relax and breathe until it subsides. If you take your right thumb nail and dig into the webbed area on your left hand that is between your thumb and index finger up near the top of the webbing, you will find a distinct point that is sore to the probing dig in here to help nausea subside. Dealing with nausea: Sometimes a mixture of peppermint and ginger tea can help with the nausea and will not interfere with the flush. If nausea or uncomfortableness does not subside, take a coffee enema with 1/2 cup of epsom salt in it. One trick that was given to me by a colonic therapist was good for severe pain during the flush. It is assumed by many of us flushers that pain is usually caused by a stone refusing to be evicted from its home. The suggestion was to ingest a large bowl of whipped cream (real not fake) which would cause the gall bladder to work in a similar fashion to the olive oil and pop that little bugger out. While I haven't tried this myself, I have heard from friends whoii have applied this successfully. It can be a good idea after you have reached this point to drink as much water as possible with aloe vera juice in it 1 oz for every 8-10 ounces of water. This helps neutralize concentrated toxins that you are getting ready to excrete. If little or no nausea is experienced, then take a coffee enema with 1/2 cup of epsom salts dissolved in it the next morning anyway. One often sees many preformed stones (green peas) come out at this time along with flaky material that often floats on the water and sometimes yellow waxy hunks that sometimes have white rock (calcium) in them. Many people feel tired, loggy uncomfortable most of that day but energy returns by next day. Nausea, moderate pain, soreness are not to be worried about. After reading accounts of flush participants and talking to dozens of holistic practicitioners, I have not uncovered a single incident where someone had to go to the hospital AS A RESULT OF OR DURING this flush. Repeat every two to four weeks. How will you know? Judge by how you feel, how your energy is, how refreshed you wake up in the morning, look to see if you still have headaches. Tune into your body, trust the body you¹ll know when to repeat. Many healthy people do this either quarterly or in the spring every year. Explanation of Ingredients: Apple Juice: High in malic acid. This and ortho-phosphoric acid both act as solvents in the bile to soften adhesions between solid globules. Epsom Salts or Magnesium Citrate (Citroma) allows magnesium to be absorbed into the blood stream which relaxes smooth muscles so that large particles are able to pass through a relaxed bile duct which otherwise might create a spasm. Olive Oil Must be raw, unrefined and cold pressed stimulates the gall bladder to contract powerfully expelling solid particles kept in storage for years. Lemon or Grapefruit Juice - causes ducts to expand thus allowing crystalizations to be moved out by the contraction that occurs from the olive oil. Coffee Enema A coffee solution retained in the colon which stimulates a unique physiological reflex which causes the liver to secrete bile. Enhances the flow of bile and further relaxes the bile duct muscles. It is highly recomended to ONLY use organic coffee. Also, for those who are moved to experiment with coffee enemas, there is a process called cold brewing which gets 90 per cent of the oils out of the coffee - ask your coffee / tea store - they will know. The following three formulas were formulated by: Chang, M.Sc.(jchang@...), a qualified organic chemist. In addition to her family tradition in the use of Chinese herbs, she has more than ten years of experience in the natural health business plus six years of experience working in the medical laboratory of North York General Hospital in Toronto, Canada. suffered significant chronic illness for many decades until she discovered how to clear her body through detoxification of the liver, gall bladder, kidneys and lungs. In her sixties now, she experiences excellent consistent health. These formulas can be purchased from her by going to: http://www.sensiblehealth.com/prime.html#Tinctures or calling her at: 416-248-2930 Chinese Bitters - Chinese Gentian, Bupleurum Liver, Gallbladder, Urinary Bladder 1/2 to 1 teaspoonful (about 5 ml) once daily on empty stomach 20-30 minutes before breakfast. As an effective liver purger, it has been found to help alleviate the toxic effects from over use of medication such as painkillers or hormone therapies. It helps digestive juice production. It alleviates mentrual cramp and reduces uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts due to the liver's improved efficiency in eliminating estrogens. In conjunction with Coptis, Chinese Bitters is effective for endometriosis. It regulates menstruation and alleviates or eliminates hot flashes experienced in menopause especially if the symptoms are worst at night. It has also been found to promote pregnancy. It has natural anti-inflammatory properties and has been found to help alleviate joint or arthritic pains. Note: Some users may experience initial headache or tightness in the head due to detoxification. It does not usually last more than a week. Because Chinese Bitters is a liver purger, it should not be taken at the same time as other medication as it may negate the effects of the medication. The taking of Chinese Bitters should be separated from medication use by at least a meal. It is also recommended to take a 1-2 week break after each 3-4 weeks of continuous use of Chinese Bitters; otherwise the liver may be over-purged. Chinese Bitters is effective in decongesting the liver. However, liver congestion is often caused by the presence of gallstones. If this is the case, gallstones should be flushed out before liver congestion can be relieved completely. Gold Coin Grass Formula Gold Coin Grass, Bupleurum Liver, Gallbladder, Kidneys, Urinary Bladder 1 tablespoonful (about 15 ml) once daily on empty stomach 30 minutes before breakfast. This product is effective in softening and crushing gallstones and is useful as a preparatory step in gallbladder flushing. Most users found their gallbladder pain alleviated or relieved already following a few days of using this product. Gallstones released with the use of this product prior to gallbladder flush are generally smaller and more in numbers. Sometimes the stones even come out in pieces. Note: This product should never be used in conjunction with Chinese Bitters because both work on the liver and gallbladder. If sleep or digestion is already a problem, Coptis or Curcuma is recommended to be taken in order to decongest the liver and help flush out the stones. Coptis Formula Coptis, Saussurea Heart, Spleen, Stomach, Liver, Gallbladder, Large Intestine 1 teaspoonful (about 5 ml) to 1 tablespoonful (about 15 ml) once daily on empty stomach before bedtime. It is effective in stimulating bile flow and helps digestion. Many people who already had their gallbladders removed found that using this product, in conjunction with Chinese Bitters, is very helpful in alleviating their sleep and digestive problems. It helps to promote better quality sleep. It helps to eliminate estrogens more efficiently if used in conjunction with Chinese Bitters. Note: This product is unusually bitter. Some users may experience harder than normal stools initially. This is normal and is caused by packed stool due to much faster movement of the stool in the intestine as a result of better digestion and lubrication of the intestinal walls from the surge in bile flow. To alleviate this initial reaction, it is helpful to drink 2 glasses of warm water first thing in the morning, then exercise for 1/2 to 1 hour before taking Chinese Bitters or Gold Coin Grass (GCG). Another half hour later, you can have breakfast. Warm water helps to activate the instestinal movement and kidneys. Curcuma Formula: Curcuma, Bupleurum Liver, Gallbladder, Heart, Lungs 1 tablespoonful (about 15 ml) once daily on empty stomach before bedtime. It has been found to strengthen energy circulation and help sleep and depression. It helps to resolve blood clots formed sometimes after surgery. It improves the quality of sleep. Liverite: Liverite is a remarkable product that enables the liver to build and detoxify effectively on a daily basis. Liverite: - Acts directly on cell metabolism to protect the liver - Regulates enzyme levels in liver - Increases liver¹s capacity to cope with toxins - Aids in restoration of cell integrity repairs cell damage - Known to halt progression of early stage liver damage into life threatening cirrhosis. Follow up to your flush: - Light eating over the next three days can be very helpful. - Give up the habit of eating any red meat after 2pm. This tip comes from Dr. (grandfather of US alternative cancer movement). He often lectured that a really high percentage of cancer incidents would vanish if americans would just adhere to this one practice. Has much to do with the trasit time of meat from when it enters your body to when it leaves and also that many people eat meat at night which causes the liver to work hard all night long. - Regardless how you feel, always at least walk for 30-60 minutes a day. - DRINK DRINK DRINK Water! - Go to work on any unresolved residual anger in your life. - When you are angry, express it - make your point fully and thoroughly and let go. There are many other things that could be added to this list however, they can be found in almost any alternative medicine book, a conversation with a decent alt med practitioner or by searching on the web. Guest guest
This was quite and account of what you did over all the years. But this really scares me to death. I have never done a flush and so I am quite new and trying to learn how to go about it. But I honestly think, I could never do all this. Isn't there a simpler way. At least for a first timer. This is much too complicated for me. I almost am considering now of having this operation. But thank you very much for this information. Guest guest
Rose, just curious why you think its complicated. It only really takes a day of suffering from having to fast, if you call that suffering, plus $5.00 ingredients and relatively good timing. then, you repeat a week or two or three later. done. instead of a $6000 dollar operation, a week minimum in the hospital, abdominal pain from the surgery for weeks after, a missing organ and possibly the failure to correct what was wrong in the first place. the flush is totally simple by comparison: at 6p.m. epsom salts, again at 8 p.m., then drink some olive oil at 10 p.m. and go to sleep. easy. Guest guest
Troy, you might think this is easy. The fasting is no problem, just all the other stuff, enemas etc. Plus if one has never done anything like that, it does kind of discourage one. But maybe it is just me. I actually like the last instructions from Lynda a lot better and much easier to follow. Rose
Guest guest
Hey Rose. I understand. I don't even do an enema. Although it would be best. And I know it is a scary thing. I have done many flushes and I must admit I get a little aprehensive each time. This is the way I do it, like Dr. 's method in a way: Organic apple juice for 3-5 days, as much as you can. I drink a quart or more. The day of the flush, juices till 2 pm. Make up 3 cups water and 4 Tbs epsoms and refrigerate. Shake till dissolved. At 6 pm take the first dose, 3/4 cup. At 8 pm take the second dose, 3/4 cup. At 9:45 mix up 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil and a red grapefruit, at least 1/2 cup. Shake it thoroughly. At 10 pm drink it down (yummy) and lie down immediately. I lie on my back with my head up. You can also lie on your right side with your knee pulled up. Lie like this for 20-30 minutes, still. Then go to sleep. In the a.m. after 6, take the third dose and then 2 hours later, the fourth. Everyone is different and every flush is different. I feel cruddy till 3ish. The past few flushes I have had to potty alot during the night but still produced stones. I have done 12, about to embark on 13 this Thursday. It has been 3 months. Just remember we are here for each other and you will learn alot from this group. Take care. ----- Original Message ----- From: <munde@...> <gallstonesegroups> Sent: Monday, October 02, 2000 11:08 AM Subject: Re: the way I cleanse > Troy, you might think this is easy. Guest guest
This sound much better. Yes, I am trying to learn, but if one has never done things plus does not know much about it, then it is a bit scary. I know about epsom salt. My mother used it for us children numberous times. I actually hate it because of this. So another question. Can you use something of the same effect as epsom salt? I will do it if I have to, but would really have a supstitute. I just remember those things from way back. Thanks, I am learning slowly, but surely. Rose
