effects of stress on CMT

I am having a major problem with my school system. I have leg braces

for foot drop and walk with a walking cane for distances. I have

been teaching elementary school for the past 15 years and trying to

keep teaching so as not to have to take a medical disability. Two

years ago I asked for a reasonable accommodation under the ADA to be

moved to Pre K. Now my principal wants to transfer me to 1st grade.

I have had 7 different teaching assignments in the past 15 years and

I only requested 3 of them. I don't think I can put my body through

all the additional workload and stress from changing teaching

assignments again(I am almost 58 and can take an age retirement in 2

years). In addition, the 1st grade math requires that the teacher

stand and walk around the room for 45 minutes each day. I cannot

stand for long periods of time. I have asked to be allowed to stay

in Pre K (for which I do not need any accommodation). I have been

waiting all summer for the answer to my request. I just talked to my

principal and she told me that as it stands now, I will be moved to

1st.

I need some advice. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I can

still work and I want to work. I just don't want to wreck my health

overworking and overstressing an already challenged CMT body.

Does anyone have any information about adverse effects stress has on

CMT?

I am so disheartened. I don't know why my school system won't work

with me. All I'm asking is to be allowed to remain in my present

postion until I can retire in 2 years. She is interviewing someone

Tuesday for another Pre K class that will be added. I am thinking

about quitting and taking a medical disability if they insist on

making me move. I will contact my neurologist Monday as well as the

Advocacy and Protection Agency in my state to see if I qualify for

mediation.

I would appreciate any advice or information.

Thanks,
