Guest guest Posted December 26, 2007 Report Share Posted December 26, 2007 Dear all yesterday i could spend 10 minutes talking to mr.Prashant, counter manager of a pharmacy at Siricilla, a sleepy rural town of karimnagar dist AP. 1. number of TB patients served by him are around 30.patients usually buy 2-5 days medicines. he doent know what is DOTS.The patients do not know these medicines are given free of cost by government.He agreed to my suggestion and implement it-asking patients to go for a free HIV test at govt hospital,Monitor improvement of weight. 2. i asked him if he can refer pregnant patients for safer delivery to a PHC and get govt incentive of Rs200.he said he can recommend patients but they lost trust and confidence in govt doctors and hospitals.he said patients are selling their little property or take loans but prefer going to private sector provider. 3.Only kama sutra brand of condoms moves in this town. people have purchased the emergency contraceptive pill of Cipla. 4. mr prashant said he can distribute health awareness literature to his patients if provided by us. the challenge before us to day how to engage srevices of commercially oreinted Doctors and chemists to improve health out comes. bhava Narayana editor pharmedtradenews@...
