Guest guest
Welcome Stan, Thanks for introducing yourself. As for classic symptoms, one would be having a family history of CMT, which I do not! I was diagnosed as a kid, am now 51, and have had every test neuros can think of. Only one I have not had is the DNA Type test, but my last EMG/NCV showed everything (nerves) firing normally, so from this the doc seems to think I have a neuronal (axonal) form. Your doc might be referring to the DNA blood test-typing. Yes, for the entire package of all the known CMT Types, it is expensive. But, that should be your choice, not the docs! If you feel it is necessary, get it done! Again, welcome to the group! ~ Gretchen in So. Calif.
