Guest guest
My name is Joyce, and I was taking Zocor. I found after a period of 6 months I did notice an increase in discomfort to my limbs. I have switched cholesterol medication and my discomfort has lessened. I am now taking PRAVACOL. > For a look at Rehabilitation Management of CMT, try this book http://www.aicmt.org/books.htm
Guest guest
 Thanks very much, Mitch! Glad the Lipitor is working for you.  Lipitor actually caused a severe neuromuscular reaction in one of my former support group members (he has CMT).  His doctor had no idea about the neuromuscular implications. That's why I thought to come here and ask.  After my Levaquin fiasco last year, which sent me into six month medical tail-spin, I am reluctant to trust any medication recommendation by doctors who have little to no knowledge of neuromuscular disorders. I plan to ask my pharmacy to do some research before I decide to fill the prescription.  Lori I am Bippy on Twitter. ________________________________ From: <mongomustgolf@...> Sent: Wed, November 11, 2009 8:53:25 AM Subject: Re: Zocor  Hi Lori - Though I am only an SMA carrier (apparently I have 1 SMN1 gene) - I did take Zocor two years ago for elevated cholesterol levels. It did its job - but per the blood test was affecting my kidneys and my doctor switched me to Lipitor - which apparently has " worked " even better with no Kidney side-effects. Everyone's different - I generally trust what the docs ask me to do - thus I'm taking Lipitor. Best of luck - Mitch ____________ _________ _________ __ From: Lori G <lorig713 (DOT) com> sma friends <@gro ups.com> Sent: Tue, November 10, 2009 7:31:48 PM Subject: Zocor  My cardiologist has recommended Zocor due to (a slightly) high cholesterol level. Any experience with Zocor and SMA? Thank you for your input.  Lori
