Guest guest
HiColleen, I am a 38yr. old female with CMT1A. I also have days of feeling extremely tired and have no get up and go,but I have found out I feel better if I get up and get busy doing something. I was diagnosed 3 years ago. I just have to pace myself and have patience because I can't move as quickly as I could a few years ago. I now wear AFOS , and they help alot with my balance and fatigue. My hands are slowly getting worse but for the main part still functioning ok. I have a great neurologist who keeps in contact with the MDA doctors. I also do pool therapy , it's great it makes it easier to exercise and is enjoyable. Keep your spirits up.

Guest guest
Hello J Hart, An answer to your question about type of CMT. CMT1A Age 16 daughter diagnosed at 12 because the tack shop noticed a difference in her calf muscles when measuring for riding boots. The same week her jazz teacher noticed a curvature in her spine (scoliosis)when she bent over to do a flat back (stretching movemnet in jazz)She has pes cavus foot also. Fell alot at age 7-8 seems to have outgrown. Age 8 daughter diagnosed at age 6 pes cavus foot, slight scoliosis Muscle atrophy and weakness, falls periodically. I have all of the above but did not feel the need for testing. Grandpa has all of the above and is in a state of denial. Tammy
