Guest guest
Greg, Yes. My right side, while dominant, has always seemed a bit weaker than the left. My left side, although not dominant, has taken up the slack I suppose and so I am strong there. Interesting too, my right hip shows it is higher in an Xray than my left, although measurement of my legs from hip to foot shows equal distance. Years ago one of the many doctors who re-diagnosed me with FA said there's no way I could have CMT because both sides aren't symmetrical. We know that now is bs. Physical therapy and all my water classes have me in good shape so I don't worry about this rightside/leftside stuff much. Until I see myself reach for something real heavy with my left hand. When I first started to write (like in 2nd or 3rd grade?) I held the pencil with my left hand. The teacher slapped my hand and said " NO " (what was I a bad dog?!) and shoved the pencil in my right hand. So I suppose my hand/eye coordination was permanently ruined until art school got me back to " normal " , using my left hand more than the right. In college I taught myself to write with both hands, (equally, one at a time) preparing myself in case I ever broke my arm. ~ G
Guest guest
Yes, I too have more left-sided problems than right; however, the first neurologist thought that perhaps I had had a stroke somewhere along the line. A CT scan just recently did reveal some small vessel ischemia. However,my weakness is not uniform; i.e.right hand is weaker than left, but right upper arm is stronger than left, and so it goes. Sometimes the MD's just don't want to believe it is so. How about others?
