Guest guest
I had some time to talk to my pharmacist this morning and asked what's up with the warning about taking Elavil and drinking grapefruit juice. She said several studies have been done and it has to do with the digestive enzymes - the grapefruit juice hogs them and it lessens the good/working effects of Elavil. Since I am not a grapefruit juice drinker, I did inquire about other citrus-associated drinks, like OJ or Lemonaide and these do not affect the work of Elavil. Just the grapefruit juice. She said she would look up the references and send to me. I also asked her about Elavil and sun exposure. (This is on the bottle, but I wanted to know what's up) Basically, if I am in the sun, and subject to sunburn, Elavil causes the skin to absorb more sun, thus 2 hours in the sun normally, would be 1 hour in the sun with Elavil. Now this explains my tan factor. All these years taking Elavil and I just learned this. ~ Gretchen
