From what I have learned on this list is many CMT persons are affected

by cold temperatures. However, I am not. Having spent some time living

in Wyoming, where winter our temps were far below 0, I grew acustomed to

this and the altitude, outfitted myself properly and even enjoyed the

cold. It was kind of invigorating in a way. I did early morning walks

with my dog even in winter like this. It just felt great. My only

problem was black ice...but everyone slipped and slid on it.

We have had many posts on cold weather before - you might want to search

through our archives for other's experience.

i have never been as cold a weather as you have up there, , but

when winter hits my pain goes very high and I have to increase

medication. A positive attitude, heavy gloves or mittens and

fur lined boots help me tolerate the cold better.

Hi :

My fingers and toes are extremely affected by the cold winter

weather here in Ontario. I walk every night, and last night

it was about 60 degrees (16 C to us) at 8:00 PM and I wore a

small/light pair of gloves on my hands. I can't stand getting my hands cold.

I suffer tremendous pain at the end of my fingers and toes if

they get cold for any length of time. I am conscious of the

cold weather and dress accordingly.

I have been at the corner of " Portage & Main " in Winnipeg

several times in my life. Many folks say this is one of the

coldest places in Canada. I think there may be some truth to

that. In my past life, MTS used to be one of my customers.

In any event, bundle up.....winter is on the way!

Here in Michigan, the cold affects me. My feet are always cold, no

matter what in the winter time. Good lined boots help a lot. Also

as far as lifting, I have found and have been confirmed by my doctors

that as weakness grows in the legs and hands, my upper thighs and arms

are stronger. Seems thats where all my strength is. So my body

has made adjustments as time goes on.

Elaine,

I also live in Michigan and the cold weather is horrible for

me! It's the damp weather that is really bad when it's cold

out and from the looks of it outside, it's going to be a

long winter. Did you wake up today with snow on the ground

also?
