Guest guest
Hi Monte- The last I knew about SSD and working was you can not earn more than $500 a month and they use 5 wk months and it does make a difference as to the type of work you do. Be very careful with working and collecting SSD. I've been on SSD since 1983. Barb Lake Worth, Fl
Guest guest
Hi Barb Or-The last time I worked 1995 The salary cap was $500, after the 9 mo. trial period. During the trial period you could make as much $ as possible!!! That was here in Fl.; don't know if it's different in each state. But in any case I'm glad they raised the monthly amt. Barb fl. Guest guest
Monte, Just an update on Barb's info...SSA raised te cap of earning to $780/mo. There is talk of that going up again. You must first go through a nine month trial period and not earn over $500/month during that time. After that period, you can earn up to $780/month. Hope this helps, The " other " Barb Portland, OR
Guest guest
Barb, What do you mean by saying " be very careful " working while on SSD?
Guest guest
Hello, I am looking to get a job where I only work say 10 hours, in order to stay within the SSD guidelines. Is anyone else receiving SSD and working? If so how much do you work, and If you do not mind how much do you make? I am trying to throughly understand how the SSD guidelines for income caps work, before pursueing this, I have already used my 9 month trial period. Any input would be appreciated, thankyou April. Guest guest
During your 9 month trial period you do not have a limit, you may earn as much as you can while still receiving your SSD benefits. Hope this helps April

Guest guest
Hi April, I am a slightly different case--sort of. I substitute teach during the school year, and my district pays a hefty wage--$131/day. I need to come in under sixdays/month to stay eligible for SSD. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Barb, Thank you for your response. How long have you been working (6 full days a month)? Is this after your trial period? Has SS gave you any trouble? I really need to make at least 500.00 in addition to SSD a month to get by. Thank you for your help.
