Guest guest
This is from another list. As a mom, a grandmom and a teacher it touched me very deeply. I do hope that you all get some pleasure from it too. Guest guest
Contribution from our member Rakesh Biswas Vijay ---------------------------------------------- In the end we all have the same tendency, that is, to see ourselves in the different stages of our lives as the result or the summary of all that has happened to us, of what we have achieved and what we have done, as if our existence amounts to only this. And we almost always forget that people's lives are not just that: each trajectory is compounded too by our losses and our vestiges, by our omissions and our unfulfilled wishes, by that which we once left aside or we did not choose or did not achieve, by the numerous possibilities that were never explored (…) by our vacillations and our dreams, by the frustrated projects and the warm and false wishes, by the fears that paralysed us, by that which we abandoned or that which abandoned us. People, in sum, perhaps consist as much of what they have not been as of what they are. ( Marías, speech of acceptance at Rómulo Gallegos Award Ceremony 1995). Guest guest
HI LILIAN My eyes feel gritty and dry, and a specialist informed me that the gland was not making enough fluid and to use eye drops to keep them moist. My daughter too who was not diagnosed until loosing several pregnancies, when only a toddler described her eyes as being " fizzy and bumpy " . This may well be due to the same meaning in the eyes of a child who is learning to talk. I took her to the Doctor who then said to take her to the optician, but she was too young for a proper eye test, but on attending school teachers spotted that she could not read the blackboard, so I took her for another eye test, and like me she was short sighted and had to wear glasses. My other daughter too had to wear glasses later on. Along with this the rest of the symptoms in this poem are a match so can they say that we are all deluded etc etc. What about " floaters " that at first one thinks is a fly, is this a match with Thyroid symptoms. Guest guest
I am going to ask my GP about Sjogren's syndrome, another autoimmune disease which attacks the tear glands and salivary glands. I am sure I mentioned this to my old GP who said he didn't know what I was talking about, just told me to stop wearing contacts which I had already done anyway. I wonder if my 'newer' GP will be more receptive, possibly not at this stage as I go there practically every week with another symptom to discuss! I also have floaters, have had for a good few years, the optician said not to worry unless I get flashes or they get much much bigger. It could be thyroid related, but my dad has them very badly and he is otherwise A1 fit. > > HI LILIAN > My eyes feel gritty and dry, and a specialist informed me that the gland was not making enough fluid and to use eye drops to keep them moist. Guest guest
Before going to sleep, smear a little Vaseline across both eyes when closed. This will stop them sticking together. Also, use MSM drops when waking and wash both eyes out well. Luv - Sheila Sue You are so clever - I could never have written that in a million years although every single line rings true (apart from the eyebrows in my case, although I always have had thick hair and brows so don't notice the loss so much!). Incidentally, is the dry eye thing really common in hypothyroidism? I've developed a thing where I wake up every morning and it hurts to open my eyes because they are so dry, then they itch and hurt all day even when i've put drops in. Anyone got any tips for dealing with this? I think i've said goodbye to my contact lenses forever :-( > > > Feeling so tired, hair falling out > Never been this weepy, heads full of doubt > Hate the cold and hate the heat > Pains in the hands, pains in the feet > Your eyes feel dry, your skin does too > You even find it hard to go to the loo > It feels like your gaining weight by the hour > It's even a struggle to go for a shower > The pain in the neck is a pain in the arse > Even the eyebrows have gone so sparse > If this is you without a doubt > Go to the TPA to help sort it out.
