I'm curious, how do you get your doctor to even try anticoagulants?

Have most of you had positive results from taking them?

Thank you!

Hello,

Deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolus complicates about 1 in 1000 pregnancies. Warfarin and other Coumarin derivatives cause embryo-fetal defects and cannot be used . Thus, heparin is the anticoagulant of choice as it does not cross the placenta and thus not associated with fetal anomalies. Although there is less data regarding the low molecular weight heparins, they also have not been associated with fetal malformations.

Both preparations, however, can cause maternal osteopenia.Dr. smita
