getting diagnosed

Hi Gretchen, thanks for you note. My question is

this: How do I know whether I have CMT? I have

symptoms but I do not know where to find a diagnosis.

When I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I had

to find this out myself by going to a fibromyalgia

conference. But the neurologist I saw who gave me

some good advice also sent me to a psychiatrist. I

did not keep that appointment because everytime I

sought help for the fibro problem, I was given the

name of another shrink.

Now I know that some of the symptoms I have resemble CMT. Where do I find

accurate diagnosis? While I was being treated for a

bladder infection I began to have paralysis of my

ankles and feet. I finally traced that problem down

to the Cipro which I was given for the infection.

That was three years ago and I still have pain and

paralysis and tingling in my feet. Is this CMT?

Where can I find out for sure.

I am 73, male, married. I have scoliosis which I

learned when I had x rays of my back following an

accident. I have hammertoes, high arches, periodic

pains in my ankles. Or is this all in my head? Do I

need another SHRINK?
