Hi :

I'm Gene Vance, just recently joined the group also.

Sounds just about like my feet, guess we got them at the

same foot store, ha, would like to see pictures of AFOs,

and did it require that much of a size difference in your

shoes? I will be seeing an ortho. Dr. that specializes in

feet only this month to see if he confirms with my Neuro.

Dr. about the AFOs. If you do not mind, did the MDA clinic

pay for any of the cost? I have been trying to get set up

with them this week. Let me hear from you. Thanks.

Gene

Your description sounds a lot like my son's AFOs, with the

swirl in the back so that the calf is not constrained. He has

not had adjustment problems though, and started wearing them

right away. His are.... I'm thinking.... made in Salisbury Md.

and named after the doctor that designed them. His son's name

is Dr. Fox, (son in law), and now I can't think of his while

I'm writing this.

Like yours, there is a little give in the plastic. My son is

about a 8 shoe with his toes scrunched up and all, and wears a

10 or 10 1/2 with the braces.

Send a picture!

Whoops I didn't mean to push send but I just sent the picture

of my AFO. As much as I love mine I wouldn't get another opinion

as they are my new life line. I just can't put into words how

much they mean to me Oh I guess I could but who wants to read

about all of that? LOL

Size well I wear a 9- 9 1/2 and the shoes I had to get for them

are a size 11 wide. I really cant tell that I have a bigger

shoe on as the orthotics takes up the sole of the shoe.

Hello all...my name is Lynnette and I have been gone for a

while, so I am going to reintroduce myself.

I am a 26 year old female, happily married, with teo children.

My childreen and I have CMT1A and mine has been progressing quite

rapidly in the last year.

I was just fitted for some AFOs and am anxiously awaiting

them. I had a choice of printed designs for me instead of the

standard white. However black was not a choice that was given. I

enjoyed being able to choose something different, especially since I

work with children. I t makes it fun for them along with my own.

Plus it is a great topic starter to introduce people to CMT.

With my AFO, I have no differance in the shoe size. Only I get my shoes from

New Balance and get a mans size 7. My feet have spread so much from muscle

collapsing that now I wear a 4-E width. They dont look manish.

Womans shoe size is an 8-81/2. But have a lot of trouble getting a wide

width. The only differance between a womans and mans is that womens come only

in

white or beige and the strings are flat. Whereas the mens shoe comes in black

and the laces are round. Model 572

I bought them at Hangar prosthetics and I only wish I knew the name I don't

ever remember being told but then I was so nervous and upset about the

situation who knows what I did or didn't hear. I just Love them that's for sure.
