Guest guest
CJ - I have aches and pains all over my body. Back, upper arms, legs, etc. In fact I have more pain in my back, neck and shoulders then in the extremities that are affected by CMT. Just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one. Take care,
Guest guest
Thanks , I believe joining this group has been a God send for me. I am learning that it's not all in my head. Even tho' my doctor (he's my GP) says it's not I needed to hear what other people are going through to get it straight! Some of the Neurologist's that I have gone to said that No, it only affects the lower extremities! CJ
Guest guest
It's still surprises me the trouble that so many of us have with neurologists. Being that this is a disease of the nerves. Although I know there are lucky ones in the group with great ones. I saw a new neuroligist in June and made sure I checked her out first - checked to make sure she was familier with CMT and she has quite a few patiants with CMT. She however told me that I was so weak I would never recover from my pregnancy and that CMT does not cause pain. Or enough pain to warrant narcotic pain killers. She wanted me to go on Nortriptilyne (anti-depresent) for the nerve pain and said that's the only medication I should be on. However - after trying the Nort. for a month - it did not help one ounce with the nerve pain. And when I was checked out by my new pain management doctor he said that my strength was quite good in my hands and feet for someone with CMT - in fact just being a female alone he thought I was farely strong - not even accounting for having CMT. Just goes to show how different every doctor can be. Needless to say I did not go back to that neurologist. Although those weren't the only reasons - but those were two of them. I'm glad you have a GP that listens and believes you.
