Thank you for sharing your story with me. More questions now -

I know they never end :-). I was under the impression that

epidurals were dangerous for people with CMT. In fact I am/was

entertaining the idea that could be why I'm having so many

problems with my hip and sciatic nerve (right side). Is this

information wrong - or does it just depend on the individual

and it's a risk/gamble that one must decide for themselves to

take? Do you have literature or a website that may give me

more information on this? Thanks again - I'm sure at some

point I'm going to drive you crazy with all this - although I

hope not. Lord knows I owe you dinner at the very least if

you're still coming out to Denver in November (for a conferance

I believe you mentioned going to) for all your help.

My anestheiologist for the epidural injections knew CMT and said there

would be no problem. I researched them a bit on my own and found nothing

on CMT and back pain epidural injections in the National Library of

Medicine. Now, recently I have learned that cortisone injections can

weaken muscles, but these epidurals went into the base of my spine.

The series of 3 was done in a sterile outpatient hospital setting, in a

private ER type room with a nurse present. I had to wear a hospital gown

(yuck) and curl up like a cat. First came a local anesthetic, then the

epidural injection. Then lie flat for 1/2 hour. Then I went home. This

doc was great and even called me between injections to see how I was

doing.

I regret that I don't have a website or literature on epidurals for

CMT/back pain. All I have is a website for Diskcure. It was awhile back,

so I don't have anything bookmarked. The epidurals had no adverse effect

on my CMT, muscles or nerves.

I don't know if the info you got is wrong or not, but I was not

adversely affected in anyway. Just dissappointed the injections didn't

work!
