Guest guest
G. Vance, The second day I was on Neurontin I had relief. I was what is called an 'instant responder'. About 1/3 of those taking it are. Another 1/3 find relief in a few months, and another 1/3 find no relief. This is from my previous research on N. As for my progression - it has been very slow. Have lived with CMT since childhood and was full of worry, and never dreamed I would live to be 50! (lol) I had a rough time with CMT symptoms in high school and college - I am sure my drinking didn't help much, except helped me cope, or so I thought. Once I got sober and started to take care of myself and be an adult, things seemed to be better. I am active, in a aquatics fitness program, bike, snorkel, travel, work as a writer, lead a very full life. Never remember seeing the peroneal muscle in my legs. But my other leg muscles and nerves have compensated for that. It is wierd when people tell me I have great legs - I think that is just from aquatics, walking, and the bike. Have built up other muscle too. As for hands, they are OK - just get tremors - the essential tremor I have is helped with Elavil/amitriptyline which also helps nerve pain. Have learned not everything in front of me has to be done at once, have learned to rest when I need to, eat when I'm hungry, pace myself, and get 9 hours of sleep a night. ~ Gretchen
