RE: Defining mild CMT...

I consider my CMT to be " mild " because I do not take any

medications for it, experience little pain from it (just

some numbness), am still able to work full-time and also

have energy for other things, and am still able to do most

activities including things like skiing, biking, short hikes

or dancing. My muscles in my upper legs and arms are very

strong which allows me to compensate quite well.

However, I would not consider my CMT so mild that I barely

think about it. I think about it constantly as my standing

balance is not great and I am very aware of that when I am

waiting in lines and whatnot. I do not fall as much as I

did in earlier years, but I attribute much of that to paying

close attention when I walk. I also think about it daily

because my high arched feet and hammer toes don't work well

in most shoes. My shoes are always reminding me of my CMT...

if the discomfort isn't, then the fact that I'm wearing

running shoes when others are wearing dress shoes or heels.

Peace, :) Marti
