Guest guest
I had my second visit to the see the Geneticist today. I had the same tests that I had 10 months ago, and thought, I'm not going to get anywhere today. The only thing I did different this time was to close my eyes while standing up. Every time I closed my eyes the geneticist had to hold as me I fell over. Again he told me, as the blood test was negative for type b, and I did not have any real " classic symptoms " I did not have cmt. He has, anyway reffered me to a neurologist, for some nerve tests to see what they come up with. I did ask him if he thought I was a time waster, and what he thought himself what might be wrong with me. He did say that he did not know what was wrong with me and was concerned with my suffering and that no I was not a time waster.I did say that when I received the negative result I was shattered. Most people would be relieved, but I wanted answers as I was convinced it was CMT. He did understand my concerns. I'll just have to wait a few more months know to find out. Love Ian. ~~~~> Hello Ian, I have a feeling you will find out more help from a neurologist. Standing up and closing one's eyes, is a pretty standard test. The last time I had that, while I did not fall over, I had to have my arms out- stretched at my sides, and one by one touch right index finger to my nose and then the left index finger to my nose. I missed my nose by a longshot - ended up on my cheek - close to my eyes. Remember there are about 53 or so subtypes of CMT, most do not have DNA gene/blood tests, and also new mutations of CMT are increasing. ~ Gretchen
