Guest guest
Gretchen and others, After the six months of going through the operations and having to live in casts for that long, I was told by my therapist after only seeing him for a month that there wasn't any more he could do for me. He basicly told me I was wasting my money. He even went through the second operation with me to get a better idea of how to treat people with CMT. Did any of you come across something like this? What kind of therapy do the rest of you do?
Guest guest
, I am not sure what you mean, but as for " therapy " I am in an Aquatics program at my local PT Center that I absolutely love. Regained muscle after back surgery and built muscle in my legs and arms. Gives me a good attitude too. Operations can help us. But being there is no arrestment YET for CMT, I feel it is up to me to do what I can for me. I also eat mostly vegan, take Vitamin E and Iron, drink only mineral water and sleep 9 hours at night. For years I had docs stuff me with pills - first Ritalin, then Valium. No wonder - one sent me spinning UP, then I needed to come down. All this on top of my 'own' cocktail mix of Tequila plus whatever. If you feel you need more medical attention, why not see another doctor? Or ask for a physical therapy program. I never had a doc tell me there was nothing he/she could do, but one did tell me I'd be wheelchair bound by the time I was 30. Freaked me out - and know what? It never happened! ~ Gretchen
