Ellie,

This is in reference to Dr. Mark Tarnopolosky's research for

neurodegenerative diseases - full article in CMT Today magazine,

September 2002 issue. pages 6 and 7. He has been researching ways to

increase energy and muscle strength for people with CMT. This 'cocktail'

of creatine monohydrate, lipoic acid and coenzyme Q10 and other

compounds should help reduce oxidative stress, improve nerve energy and

enhance the function of mitochondria. 30 people took part in his study.

They were required to have a clinical family history and EMG to support

their CMT diagnosis. Half the group were given a placebo, the others got

the cocktail. I am not sure if the study is completed or not nor do I do

not have any results. Dr. Tarnopolosky is at McMaster University Health

Science Center in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
