Hello, My name is Elaine and I live in Michigan. I have CMT 1.

It runs in my family. I was diagnosed 7 years ago. At this time I wear a

AFO unhinged on my left leg and a double upright on the right leg. I am

employed driving a school bus. I have noticed in the last year that I am

getting

worse. My sense of balance is off along with a few other minor happenings. I

cannot walk any great distance, but drive all day lol. I do not use a can

or any other form of assistance except I have a walker for walking a lot. But

I find myself sitting more than walking. So I don't go anywhere if it

requires a lot of walking. Easier to stay home and putz in the garden. I do

have my

annual appointment at the end of the month with MDA. At that time I am going

to request to see if I am able to get a scooter. That would open up a

whole new world, where I would be able to go shopping. And not sit more

than I walk. I also have all my Dr, appointments set up at the end of month

and am requesting letters. I want to see if I would be eligible for SSD. I

don't know, but I need to check.
