Guest guest
Hello people, Somebody told he is wearing an in-a-shoe orthotics that was custom made by an orthotist at http://www.swissbalance.com. Concerning to myself my thighs are very weak, I'm loosing my balance, I'm having muscle cramps, fatigue when walking, falling down very easily and I'm felling a very sharp pain all throw the left side of my body. Up to my 45 years CMT didn't affect me very hard. However in the last five years is getting worse and I have been forced to stop doing many things I used to do. Why is it so? In the further years would CMT affect even more? Do you have any sort of information about going to Italy to see Dr. Paolo Vinci? Is the treatment expensive at the Hospital " L.Spolverini " ? Sincerely yours, Murilo Lion.
Guest guest
Murilo, We are all different in the way CMT affects us. I shared my experience with you on wearing in-shoe orthotics from SwissBalance. As I have previously shared, most of my CMT issues are feet related. The orthotics DO help with balance and also fatigue when walking. I fall maybe 2 or 3 times a year. I do not have muscle cramps. Wearing the orthotics helps me very much. I understand your doubt. It is hard to describe CMT sometimes and how I am affected. I would have to say I suppose I am midly affected. I am 50 now. CMT is a progressive disease, but again, the progression varies depending on the individual. Others with CMT wear AFOs that help them walk. Perhaps first read Dr. Vinci's book, then contact him regarding treatment. The book explains treatment. Here is the link http://www.aicmt.org/books.htm In our photos section I have placed pictures of the footdrop boots. ~ Gretchen
