Guest guest
Hi folks; I found the reference to Marfan's in the book I spoke of. It is Charcot Marie Tooth Disorders, a physicians guide to treatment. It is on page 14. Speaks of " Marfan's like symptoms " . The impetus here is not in making a connection to Marfan's syndrome, but in relating that CMT persons sometimes have or " appear to have " some of the same signs and should not be " fooled " . It is intresting to note that Marfan's is an abnormality of the 17th chromosome but an entirely different gene than CMT1A. It is also possible to have both. Also some of these signs can be inherited independent of either disease. Several of my family with CMT have SOME of these signs and to my knowledge none without CMT, including " yours truly " . Also more than one CMT person has now told me that their doctors had noted this. Not including my own. I hope this clears the muddy waters a bit!LOL Jim Nash in Ohio
