Guest guest
This is so true. When my doctors told me I was going to die, my exact response was " I'm not going anywhere. I'm a mother. I don't have that privelege. " What are you talking about?! " I made up my mind from minute one that I was going to live for my children. Dying just was not an option. And here I still am, almost 4 years after I was supposed to die. The power of a positive attitude and of the human will is utterly amazing. Never lose your positive attitude or your will to live! Guest guest
Hi Stan, That is a big question because I did so much. I had to go through traditional radiaiton and chemo to the extreme. I got bombarted with mega doses of both chemo and radiation, as well as morphine. The treatment itself should have killed me. My doctors told me my nutrition saved my life from not only the cancer but the cancer treatment as well. Additionally, I ate a strict macrobiotic diet, used essiac tea and IP6, did yoga and H2O2 baths and sitz baths for oxygenation (I did have to stop the yoga when I became too sick and lost all my energy), took many supplements, especially to increase my alkalinity, to repair damage to my cells and for my total nutrition when I became too sick to eat. I did meditation, especially chakra meditation, as the root chakra is connected with the colon. Imagery and visualization were always a part of my meditation as well. I juiced everything I could juice, until I got too sick to keep even the juice down. I plan to repost my cancer story and my cancer nutrition story, which are both already posted here in the archives. But since I was a message board rookie when I first posted them, I want to edit them to make them more easily readable. I will do that in the next couple of days, since I am still fighting a bit of a flu bug (for 2 weeks now)! Please let me know if I can help you in any way with the information and resources I have. Guest guest
Hi , You are so sweet. Thanks for the suggestions in battling this flu bug. I'm not sure what this is I have - nausea, headache, no energy! I have been doing alot of juicing and taking my supplements, which I ran out of for awhile during my move. That probably made my immune system weak, as I usually don't get sick. On any day that I think I'm feeling better, I get up and jump right into the work that has been piling up on me, my job, the housework, etc. The next day I feel sick all over again. I think I need to rest on that first day I feel better instead of trying to get caught up right away. I have a hot tub now in the new house. Or out on the patio, I should say. I go out there everyday that it isn't raining or snowing. It is great for detoxing the pores. Then getting out into the Michigan January cold closes the pores right up again. It's great for my skin in general. Perhaps I should stay out of the cold in my bathing suit if I want to get well, too! I'm sure this is God's way of making up for the 3 1/2 years that I didn't have a bathtub, only a shower! A good hot bubble bath by candlelight has always been one of my favorite forms of relaxation! I really missed that for such a long time. I do drink herbal teas everyday that I make myself from the herbs, rather than buying pre-made tea bags. I probably have some recipes somewhere for the Elderberry and wolfberry tinctures. I am into herbalism and have many recipes for various things like that. I'll have to take a look. I will look into some of the other things you've suggested as well. Thanks so much for your concern for my health! *hugs* szukidavis@... wrote: What are you doing for this bug you have? Guest guest
Thanks Otto. I do juice at least 3 oranges a day and try to get my C from juicing many other fruits and vegetables. I never thought of supplementing with any more than is in the supplements I already use. As of this posting I am feeling much better, though it did take awhile. Since I don't normally get sick, my first thought was " oh no, the cancer is back! " But that is my first thought everytime I get a headache or an acne blemish! I am still cancer free though! I so appreciate your concern and advice. Guest guest
From: BiblicalHealthDaily@...(Maker's Diet) Weekend Inspiration You Are What You Think " For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. " (Proverbs 23:7) What you do and say begins with what you think and believe. In the pursuit of perfect health, it's important to remember that the mind greatly influences the body and spirit. The human mind is a complex and wonderful " machine, " sometimes referred to as the most powerful computer ever built. Like computers, we can process, store, and share information. And like computers, the information we put out is only as good as the data we put in: Garbage in, garbage out. In most cases, the things we say and do begin with what we think. We can choose which information we accept and allow to become part of our way of thinking. In fact, we create many of our own problems through negative thinking, bad decision making, and poor dietary choices. By choosing positive, enriching ideas over negative, damaging ones, we significantly improve our mental health. These choices, both positive and negative, directly influence our bodies and our spirits; a fact that reinforces the role the mental process plays in our overall health. Jordan's Tip of the Day From the author of The Maker's Diet Although it may seem counterintuitive, talking to yourself can make you more sane! But it's what's said that counts! We all try to be encouraging to our friends and family, but what do we say to ourselves? Give yourself a " Good job! " or " Way to go! " every once in a while and watch your mood brighten and your confidence grow. More from Jordan Rubin
Guest guest
You Are What You ThinkI'm good enough, I'm smart enough and, doggone it, people like me!What do you think about when you exercise? Are your thoughts positive ("dang, I look GOOD!") or negative ("why can't I lose more weight?")? Are you wondering why you should care? It may surprise you to know that bad thinking habits may be what's keeping you from a consistent exercise program. I'm not saying you should go all Stuart Smalley on us, but figuring out distorted thinking patterns can make exercising easier and, yes, even more fun.Perfectionism - Also known as unrealistic expectations. If you berate yourself for losing only five pounds instead of ten, you may be guilty of this kind of distorted thinking. Why not give yourself credit for your successes? If you've started exercising, that alone is cause for celebration! And if you're seeing some results, that's even better. Positive Thinking GetsYou closer to success than Negative Thinking. Everything you do that makes you healthier is a success. Focus on that and take some time to make sure your goal is realistic. The Blame Game - Are you having trouble exercising because your gym is too far away? Or because the weather's bad? Blaming external factors helps people avoid taking responsibility for their own choices. If you're not working out, it's up to you to figure out why you're not sticking to your program. Maybe you don't like going to a gym...or maybe your workouts are too hard. Once you figure out the problem, you can take steps to rectify the situation. Explore your reasons for not exercising so you can change your approach. I'm a Loser, Baby - Many of us equate self-worth with success. Losing weight means we're good, failing to lose weight means we're bad and no one will love us. If you feel like a failure all the time, it's almost inevitable that you will fail. Remember: what you look like is just one aspect of who you are. Edel Jarboe recommends that you "[f]ocus on who you are and not just on what your body looks like. Acknowledge the whole you and not just your body." You're complex! You're fascinating! And don't you forget it! It's Not Fair! - Have you ever wondered, "Why can't I look like that person?" Mat Luebbers, About's Swimming Guide, reminds you that "[y]our abilities are unique (as are those of every human being)" Comparing yourself to others is only going to encourage those negative thoughts. Instead of tearing yourself down, boost your own ego by thinking about how great you are (and you are, darling). I Hate My (insert unsightly body part here)! - If you've ever looked in the mirror and said, "Oh my god, are those my thighs?" it's time to take a a step back. We all have a body part we love to hate, but remember that your body allows you to walk, run, squat, and jump. That belly that seems to attract every calorie you eat serves to protect your spine when you move, sit or stand. Your body works as a whole, so try to appreciate all you can do in a day because of your thighs, hips, and belly (regardless of how they look)! The Antidote to Negative Self-Talk The antidote for negative thinking is...drum-roll please...positive thinking! Try this activity recommended by R. Ball, MS in "Cognitive Strategies" (IDEA Personal Trainer, Nov-Dec 2000): Carry around a pocketful of paper clips. Every time you have a negative thought about yourself, hook the paper clips together in a chain. states, "[o]ften clients become motivated to change because they are surprised at the length of the chain at the end of the day." Stop that negative thoughts before they happen by saying the word "Stop!" when you feel a self-defeating comment coming on. Or take out that stupid chain of paperclips and, for each positive thought, remove one until you're paperclip-free--or at least until your office manager sends out an email asking who stole all the paperclips.AOL now offers free email to everyone.
