Guest guest
Gretchen - reading your post got me thinking. The MDA is supported by government funds and as part of that CMT is " covered " . I'm curious (for anyone out there who may know) is there someone " higher up " that ka could go through. If the government pays for these doctors to be knowledgable of every disease covered by MDA then I would think there's something that could be done to get better care. I know that ka (sorry to refer in second party - because I know you (ka) are going to read this) doesn't have options for other clinics in decent proximity. Has anyone out there ever challenged MDA for not giving patiants the proper care that is guaranteed according to the US Government? Is there something we can do - possibly get a second opinion from a doctor who actually knows CMT that the MDA would be required to pay for? Maybe this is so mething we as a group can " challenge " on behalf of ka and other's out there who have no other options but to use the MDA. Just a thought - I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Guest guest
Oh Boy here we go again on my part. lol I have my Drs. at MDA but also go to a bracing doctor and another neuro. doctor outside of MDA. When I first started they were thrilled to see me. because their internship doctors working in their offices had never seen CMT patients. Each time I go, its a new one and I get to talk about my CMT. I become the educator. But when I leave I get the bill. I wonder how much I should charge the interns for the medical teaching on the subject. lol I also have to pay for each of these visits. MDA does not. One time a Doctor of Internal Medicine charged me $300.oo and that was my 30 percent that my insurance did not cover. So beware and ask before you go and make that appointment how much its gonna cost. Elaine Michigan

I had to tell him I had neither the time nor inclination to pay him to educate him. I fired him and went to a different neurologist. <<I also have to pay for each of these visits. MDA does not.
