Guest guest
I just read your hiking experience for the second time, and I'm so glad you wrote about it! I use the same kind of breathing mantra, " Breath in, breath out... " when I walk or hike. I haven't pushed it lately, mainly due to fear. I don't have a major problem falling, but symptoms after hiking are worse than they used to be. I think I'm just afraid of the sense that the CMT is progressing. But you know what? The positive experience of getting out and moving, seeing scenery, and the sense that I accomplished something... I need to keep that in my life. All I'm avoiding in not hiking is my fear of the reminder of progression. That is no way to live. I use AFOs, but in general my CMT is pretty mild. I describe it much differently in the winter when I really seem to suffer. Great, inspiring experience! Danita
Guest guest
I enjoy hiking here in arkansas. Last year a very athletic neighbor aged 79 challenged me to a hike in Petit State Park. It was a 3 mile hike on very rough terrane for me. Well I went and going down several long hills I sat on my behind and went down, I lose my balance looking down so this way made sense to me. now this neighbor tells every one how I sat down and hiked right along with him. I enjoy hiking and enjoy the challenges whether I am walking or scooting around on my behind I wouldn't miss the scenery for the world!!! cathleen.
