Guest guest
Welcome Ellie and Jim, Welcome again and thank you for posting your introductions. I had many neurological tests at UCLA back in the 60's and '70s and I too, have no family history. A while back in my aquatics program, we were learning salsa dancing in the pool. I'm a real fan of aquatic exercise. Besides genetic testing, there is the EMG/NCV test. Did your husband have the DNA test? http://www.athenadiagnostics.com even with that, some types of CMT still have no test. At UCLA I had dozens more tests, including muscle biopsy and spinal tap, but I think now those tests were used to rule out other diseases. Perhaps once your husband is tested, his sons might want to be tested and/or seek genetic counseling. CMT affects us all differently in some ways. Some people are affected in both legs and arms. Wish I could answer your last question, but no, I am not aware of anything that can delay atrophy. ~ Gretchen
